BIG NEWS: MEET APPLE HOMEVIEW

On Tuesday, Apple announced something brand new: HomeView. Think of it as a little digital command center for your kitchen counter or wall.

Here's the quick version:

• A 7-inch touchscreen with a built-in speaker, on a tabletop base (or mounted on the wall)
• Powered by the new, smarter Siri
• Recognizes up to six people in your home and shows each person their own calendar, reminders, messages, and photos
• Doubles as a kitchen helper, turning recipes into step-by-step instructions with hands-free timers
• FaceTime calls, plus an Intercom feature to send a quick message around the house
• Can display a shared photo album, like a digital picture frame the grandkids can add to

It starts at $299, pre-orders are open now, and it arrives November 13th. Apple also refreshed the Apple TV 4K and released a new HomePod mini.

Is it worth it for you? On Thursday's show (https://square.link/u/tl2k0IwD) , we'll walk through who this is (and isn't) a great fit for.

THE NEXT NEW MACS: M6 RUMORS

If you've been thinking about a new Mac, here's what the rumor mill is saying:

• A new 24-inch iMac with Apple's new M6 chip and fresh colors, same familiar design. Reportedly coming as soon as October 27.
• A new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6, reportedly on the same day.
• The M6 MacBook Air likely won't arrive until early 2027.

Apple hasn't announced any of this yet, so treat it as "likely," not "guaranteed." But if you're shopping for an iMac right now, it may be worth waiting two more weeks.

Bring your "Should I buy now or wait?" questions to the show. That's exactly what we're there for.

See you Thursday at 3:15 PM Central (https://square.link/u/tl2k0IwD) !

Today's Mister Mac Show

Hey Mister Mac Fam!

This week, we’re talking about the scams showing up right now — and how to spot them before they become a bigger problem.

It starts Wednesday, October 7th at 3:15PM.

We’ll cover:

1. Recent data leaks — and how leaked personal information can make scam messages feel much more convincing.
2. The Punchbowl scam is back — what to watch for and how to tell if a fun-sounding invite from a friend is legitimate or fake.
3. New credit card and QR-code scams — including some old tricks showing up in new ways.

And we’ll talk about how Apple Pay can help protect you by keeping your actual card number out of many transactions.

We’ll also leave time for live Q&A, so bring any suspicious texts, emails, pop-ups, or “Is this real?” questions you’ve been wondering about.

AND IF YOU MISSED LAST WEEK…

We’re recommending that most people move forward with iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate.

The first round of fixes (27.0.1) is here, and this is the point we’ve been waiting for.

And a bonus for today's show, we’ll also show you how to enroll in Apple’s beta (https://beta.apple.com) releases if you want to be on the front lines of what’s coming next — and when we think you probably shouldn’t.

See you at 3:15 PM Central!

Can’t Make Today’s Mister Mac Show?

Here’s the spoiler:
The first round of bug fixes is here — and this is the point we’ve been waiting for.
With Apple’s 27.0.1 updates now released, we’re recommending that most users go ahead and upgrade to iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate.

Apple has now addressed some of the early issues that tend to show up after a major release, which is why this is the point we’ve been waiting for.

Apple’s update details:

What’s included in iOS 27.0.1 (https://support.apple.com/en-us/149076)
What’s included in macOS 27.0.1 (https://support.apple.com/en-us/127257)

And keeping your devices up to date matters for more than just new features.

Security threats keep evolving, and stories like this are a good reminder that staying current on software updates is one of the simplest ways to keep your devices better protected:
