THE CENTER DIFFERENCE
The Center difference is our obsession with quality intervention and meaningful progress. These interactions are mutually beneficial.

The Center for Growth & Development is comprise of two separate but complimentary components: Dynamic intervention programs for children with special needs and a Preschool program designed for typically developing children Whether your child has special needs and is participating in an intensive intervention program to learn communication, play, and social skills, or is a student in our preschool

🌟 Read these screenshots shared by the mom of a Center alumn! 🌟

Many of our current Center therapy team members will recognize this handsome and brilliant young man. Not just recognize, but remember with tremendous love, adoration, and pride dozens of stories of his amazing ability to use extraordinary smarts with tell-it-like-it-is practical humor. So many years later, we still tell Henry stories! (Note to Henry’s future professors … don’t waste time fact checking, trust, he is spot on correct!)

Congratulations to Henry and all other Center alumni taking next steps this year, whatever that path may be. We are so proud! We remember you, we know exactly how hard you worked, and how hard your families fought for you to be where you are today ❤️.

Check out our Generalization Station!

Located just outside our therapy toy closet, the Generalization Station is a theme based play area that changes weekly. The benefits are infinite, here are a few:

💡 It gives the children the opportunity to practice language and skills they learn in therapy during natural play. From simple imitation to high level perspective taking, play is an important way to generalize skills.

💡The space is big enough, and materials numerous enough for for children to play with a friend or in a small group, each with just the right amount of support from their therapist. Playing with other children early and often, and in ways that are orchestrated to be simple and rewarding, sets the stage for interest in friends.

💡The beautiful displays and theme based activities promote play with a variety of toys and play schemes broadening a child’s repertoire of play interests, and promote creativity and flexibility.

💡These collections of activities always include some novelty, giving children the opportunity to learn new information through play, our ultimate goal for everyone.

📣 Shout out to Alexa, our resident organizational psychology expert (not to mention fantastic RBT who has been with the Center nearly a decade!) who sets up the Generalization Station with a new theme each week. She chooses each theme and pulls together the materials for theme based stories, puzzles, pretend play, fine motor activities, sensory bins, games, and more!

The Center celebrated its 20th anniversary this summer by finally moving into our forever home! Three buildings (one yet to be renovated) on 1.5 acres. Therapy rooms, preschool classrooms, offices, beautiful outdoor space, a sensory motor room, a kitchen for cooking projects, space for diagnostic evals, and so much more. We couldn’t be happier to spend our days with amazing children in this perfect space!
