The Ridgefield Lions Club is a non-profit organization that supports the local community. Our Mission Statement is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation. The Lions motto is "We Serve"

Our club was formed April 19, 1929. We celebrated our 84th Anniversary this year. We collect used glasses throughout the year. There's a big YELLOW mailbox in The Market Place at Copps Hill as well as smaller white and blue Lions Club boxes in Town Hall, My Eye, Dr. Amatuzzi's office, Dr. Berman's office (Family Eye Care), Dr. Doty's office, Ridgefield Bank (Danbury Road) and Dr. Reynold's office. There are also boxes at Founder's Hall and Ridgefield Parks and Rec . Georgetown Lions have a yellow mail box in Ancona's parking lot also. The glasses are sent to a school for the deaf in New Jersey where they are cleaned, read and packaged to be distributed to people in third world countries by Lions and opticians. Our club collected 10,000 pairs of glasses during the past few years. This is an ongoing project for our club. We are always looking for people to join us in our endeavor to help those less fortunate. Our club consists of both male and female members from all walks of life. We love for you to join us at one of our meetings to see what we're all about.

Suggested donation $10 to benefit Regional Hospice and its Center for Comfort Care & Healing in Danbury, CT.

There's something especially fitting about Ridgefield's oldest continuously operating service organization spending an evening exploring the history of the community we have served for generations.

At our recent Ridgefield Lions Club meeting, we were treated to a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at an extraordinary project underway at the Ridgefield Historical Society: The Battle of Ridgefield: A New Look at 250.

Nearly 250 years after the Battle of Ridgefield was fought along the streets and fields of our town, new archaeological and forensic discoveries are changing what we know about what happened here in 1777 — and reminding us that this isn't just Ridgefield's history. It's America's history. The Historical Society is working to capture that story in a documentary for generations to come.

And we learned that creating a documentary like this involves a LOT more than pointing a camera and pressing record.

There are archaeological investigations and forensic research. Artifacts to uncover and interpret. Skeletal remains to study. Experts to interview. Historical scenes to recreate and animate. And then there is the filming, editing, post-production, educational outreach and distribution required to bring all of it together into one compelling story.

In other words, uncovering history takes resources — and preserving it does, too.

We were fortunate to get an early look at some of the work already underway, and we can't wait to see the finished film.

As an organization devoted to serving Ridgefield, the Lions are proud to shine a little light on another local nonprofit doing remarkable work for our community.

Congratulations to our new President, Cheryl Boyd! We’re so luck to have you lead us, we’re all looking forward to 2027! Mike, than you so much for all your headship in the past year, we all appreciate all that you have done for our club.
