There are truly full circle moments that remind us what community is all about. 💕
One of the moms from our very first preschool class faced an unimaginable illness and turned her journey into something meaningful by creating a foundation to help others. Last Fall, our Abilities family was honored to sponsor a hole at The Whitman Foundation golf tournament fundraiser, supporting their mission of helping local families in need.
Today, we witnessed the Whitman foundation present a check to an Abilities family to help purchase an accessible vehicle for Brooke. Brooke is a wife and mother of two boys who was born with Poly Phocomelia. Despite living without arms and with only half of one leg, Brooke has built an inspiring life filled with resilience, determination, and love for her family. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology, married the love of her life, and dedicates herself fully to being present for her children in every moment possible.
For years, Brooke’s adapted van gave her the independence to bring her boys to sports, school events, appointments, and all the everyday moments that matter most. But as the vehicle has become unsafe and difficult to operate, her independence and ability to participate in her children’s lives have become increasingly limited.
Seeing our community come together once again to support a family in such a meaningful way is a beautiful reminder of the power of kindness, compassion, and connection. We are so grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for one another , through the hard moments, the hopeful moments, and everything in between. 💙💚
