Georgetown University
My trip to Washington, D.C., included my second visit to Georgetown University. Since I am now in my 7th cycle working on college admissions, I am starting to visit some colleges for the second time. College admissions practices change over time, so you need to keep up.
Georgetown University will start allowing students to use the Common App, so expect to see an increase in applications and a drop in its admissions rate. A colleague in my field says that the Georgetown admissions office told her that submitting the science score, if the student takes the ACT, is optional. It would not surprise me if that is the case. However, sometimes things are optional for applications but typically required for admissions. The slide the admissions office showed me says "ACT Science Highly Recommended," not "ACT Science Optional." Georgetown has a history of leaning into test scores when reviewing applicants for admission, so this is not surprising given that history.
