Building Blocks Early Learning Center Preschool and childcare for ages 4 weeks to 5 years old. Before and after school programs too! We are a Reggio inspired, social constructivist program.

Building Blocks Early Learning Center is a full day child care and preschool. We offer the highest of care for young children with an educational emphasis throughout the day. Preschool is incorporated into our full day spots as well as our 3 1/2 hour preschool classes. We put a huge emphasis on bringing the outdoors in as well as learning through social interaction with each other and the environment. We believe that the parent is the child's first teacher, our teachers are the 2nd and the environment is the third teacher. We welcome families into our cooperative learning environment and realize that all families come from different backgrounds. We value each families individuality as we celebrate our family and children's likenesses and differences in our school.

After watching several children glue together odds and ends and then tell me they made a doll or a teddy, I knew we had to follow their interests and spend some time making their own special stuffies! Each child came up with their own ideas: A unicorn, a blue tiger, a macaw, and a teddy-cow are just a few examples! With assistance they hot glued and stuffed their fabric, cut tiny holes and learned how to snap in the eyes, and then cut and glued the felt features they wanted. They were thrilled to see their ideas come to life!
Seeing the children cuddle up with their handmade stuffies at rest time was especially sweet!

We were busy as bees this spring in the art studio! The children explored insects and flowers, created giant collaborative pieces using recycled materials and experimented with new mediums like clear glue and glass to create hanging mosaic sun catchers!

Summertime is sure to bring more art joy!

We had so much fun creating an array of wintertime projects! The children enjoyed exploring a variety of items to create each piece of art. We used sponges, plastic bags, toothbrushes, cookie cutters, paint spinners, pipe cleaners, Q-tips, handprints and so much more!

We are looking forward to all the art inspiration that spring will bring!

Building Blocks Early Learning Center is a unique program that supports a diverse group of children and their parents. We are a school that practices respect and compassion for our children, families and teachers.

We believe that children are innately curious, capable, theory builders, and we strive to give them the freedom to grow naturally while supporting and offering opportunities to expand their natural abilities. By preparing beautiful learning environments, full of high quality, richly designed, provocations we inspire children to explore which in turn scaffolds their learning to a much higher ability naturally.

We are a social constructivist school that believes strongly in inquiry-based practices as well as project approach curriculum. We are strongly Reggio inspired and are passionate about bringing to light much of what we have learned from the Reggio Schools in Italy.

We have a Specialist in each classroom that is an expert in the content of the classroom or studio they work in.

Building Blocks is a place where children play to learn and curiosity drives our curriculum.
