How’s your distance control out on the golf course? When you’re putting from 20, 30, or even 40 feet, don’t get tense because you think you need to make the putt. Your goal isn’t to sink it. Your goal is to get the ball within a 4-foot diameter of the hole. Start with your consistent setup routine, pick an intermediate target a few feet in front of the ball, and focus on getting the speed right. If you can consistently get that long putt within 4 feet of the hole, your next putt should be an automatic in. Before your next round, try this drill on the putting green from different distances. Better distance control means fewer three-putts and more confidence on the greens. This is the next episode in our ABCs of Putting series.
