The Judy Howard Hill Nursing Program welcomed Dr. Mary Strickland, DNP, RN, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at UNC Health-Nash as guest speaker for the 53rd annual pinning ceremony.

The 53rd annual pinning celebration took place tonight for the Judy Howard Hill Nursing Program at Barton College where we celebrated 33 undergraduate nursing students and 22 RN to BSN students!

Award winners included Natalie Violette for Outstanding Senior Nursing Student, Katelynn Kaestner for Highest Academic Achievement, Jaeyona Clark and Georgianna Davis for the DAISY in Training Award, and Emma Davis for the Blue Flame Award. Not pictured is Kimberly Murphy, RN, for the Outstanding Senior Student for the RN to BSN program.

The North Carolina Great 100 Nurses Scholarship recognizes outstanding nursing students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, professionalism, and a strong commitment to the nursing profession. Nursing programs across North Carolina are selected on a rotating basis, and faculty members collaborate to identify the student they believe is most deserving based on criteria established by the Great 100 Board of Directors. This scholarship highlights future nurse leaders who exemplify compassion, dedication, and excellence in nursing education and practice.

Congratulations to Barton College junior nursing student Angelica Atkinson, chosen this year as recipient of the scholarship! The nursing program is proud of Angelica and her hard work!

Since the first graduating class in 1974, the Judy Howard Hill Nursing Program at Atlantic Christian College/Barton College has proudly prepared well over 1,800 nurses who have gone on to serve patients, families, and communities across North Carolina and beyond.

During Nurses Week, we celebrate the dedication, compassion, and leadership of our nursing alumni who continue to make a difference every day in healthcare.

Over the next few weeks, the Judy Howard Hill Nursing Program at Barton College is proud to showcase our outstanding May graduates!

Our final highlight is Savannah Rodgers. When Savannah was five, her grandfather was injured and in the hospital for an extended period of time with a severe brain injury. She saw how nurses were working with patients and family, and immeidately knew that's what she was meant to do with her life.

Savannah would like to thank her family and the incredible professors of the Barton College nursing program, as this would not have been possible without them.

Savannah has accepted a position at ECU Health - Greenville in the Children's Operational Pool.

Congratulations, Savannah!
