FOVA FALL Lecture
Jared Ledesma, November 3, 6pm
Barton College will welcome Jared Ledesma, Curator of 20th-Century and Contemporary Art at the North Carolina Museum of Art, for the Friends of Visual Arts Fall Lecture on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. in the Barton Art Galleries. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Ledesma will share insight into contemporary curatorial practice and the role of museums in presenting, interpreting and building collections of modern and contemporary art.
Since joining the North Carolina Museum of Art in 2022, Ledesma has organized exhibitions across the museum’s two campuses, including Allana Clarke: Tender, David Gilbert: Flutter, THERE featuring Jordan Nassar and the touring exhibition Grace Hartigan: The Gift of Attention. He also has helped expand the museum’s permanent collection through acquisitions of works by artists including Ruth Asawa, Beverly Buchanan, Gwen Knight, and Irene Rice Pereira.
Before joining the North Carolina Museum of Art, Ledesma held curatorial positions at the Akron Art Museum, the Des Moines Art Center and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The Friends of Visual Arts is part of Barton College’s Cultural Arts membership program, supporting opportunities that strengthen engagement with the visual arts on campus. The annual fall and spring FOVA lectures bring artists, curators and other arts professionals to Barton, extending conversations about contemporary art and professional practice beyond the classroom and into the greater community.
