Good afternoon Hearne families! Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! This is Principal Olinka Baker with announcements, updates, and reminders for the week of August 24.

The first day of school is Monday, August 24. The building opens to students at 7:30 am. Students are considered tardy after 8:00 am. Parents, you are welcome to walk your student to class during the first week only. Our Independence Day begins on August 31 and all students will be expected to walk to class on their own.

Parents of bus riders, please note that bus times will vary over the first few days. We ask that you are patient, but please ensure that your child is at the bus stop a few minutes earlier than the designated time. If your student is recently registered, they may not have been assigned to a bus route yet. This can take a few days to process, so please be prepared to provide transportation until you receive notification of a bus assignment. Parents of car riders, please note there is only one drop off lane open. When dropping off your student, please kiss and go. Staff will be present to assist your child out of the car. We need to keep the car line moving to prevent traffic from backing up on the street. If you plan to walk your student to class, please be aware that parking is limited in the front parking lot and will be impacted by the car line. Whatever the mode of transportation, please make sure you communicate with your child’s teacher regarding their morning and afternoon mode of transportation. As the safety of our students and families is our priority, we appreciate your patience and cooperation as any transportation kinks are worked out over the next few days.

Our kindergarteners will participate in staggered entry. If you did not attend Open House to receive the information letting you know whether your kindergartener will attend school on Monday, August 24th, or Tuesday, August 25th, your child will attend on Tuesday. All kindergarten students will attend school beginning Wednesday, August 26th. Additionally, all kindergarten health assessments and immunizations are due by September 22.

School dismisses at 3:00 pm. Car riders should be picked up no later than 3:15 pm.

¡Buenas tardes, familias de Hearne! ¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2026-27! Les habla la directora Olinka Baker con anuncios, actualizaciones y recordatorios para la semana del 24 de agosto.

El primer día de clases es el lunes 24 de agosto. El edificio abre para los estudiantes a las 7:30 a. m. Se considera que los estudiantes llegan tarde después de las 8:00 a. m. Padres de familia, pueden acompañar a su hijo hasta el salón de clases únicamente durante la primera semana. Nuestro "Día de la Independencia" (para fomentar la autonomía de los alumnos) comienza el 31 de agosto; a partir de esa fecha, se espera que todos los estudiantes caminen solos hasta su salón.

Padres de estudiantes que usan el autobús: tengan en cuenta que los horarios del autobús variarán durante los primeros días. One of the highlights of the school year is always our open house, and yesterday’s was one of the best. It was wonderful to see our students and their families again and discuss the amazing learning objectives and goals we have this year. We’re particularly pleased that we were able to provide our students backpacks filled with school supplies and books. We truly appreciate the generosity of the Hubert Vester Auto Group and Nick Ellison from Biggest Realtor for their donations of the backpacks.

Make sure your calendar is cleared this evening when we host our Open House from 4-6 p.m. This is not only a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, but also a chance to take care of the “business” side of school - updating Infinite Campus, paying the $30 Chromebook usage fee (or applying for a waiver), receiving bus information, joining the PTCO or completing a volunteer application. We will also be giving away book bags filled with school supplies and books. However, there will be no enrollments during this time. We look forward to seeing you!

Good evening Hearne families. This is Principal Olinka Baker and I am excited to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year. I would like to share some updates and important announcements with you.

Open House will be held on Thursday, August 20, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. In addition to meeting your child’s teacher, you will be able to complete the Yearly Update in Infinite Campus, pay the $30 Chromebook usage fee or apply for a financial waiver, receive bus information, join the PTCO, and complete a volunteer application. We will also give away bookbags filled with supplies and books to build your home library and promote literacy at home. There will be no enrollments during this time.
