Good evening, Eagle Fam! This is Dr. Wooten, principal of Frederick Douglass Elementary School, with a welcome-back message for all of our families.
I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer and is ready for a great school year! I am so excited to see everyone at Open House this Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM!
During Open House, you’ll have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, pick up some school supplies, take a few photos, and receive important information, including bus route information, car rider tags, student information sheets, and more.
Our PTO will also be selling school spirit T-shirts, so bring cash if you’d like to purchase one! T-shirts will range from $5 to $15, and they will have a limited number of adult sizes available as well.
We’ll also have Chromebooks available for families to sign up for Parent Portal, pay your technology fee or apply for the technology fee waiver, create your School Cash Online account, and complete your volunteer application.

PARENT PORTAL: YEARLY UPDATE
All families must complete the Yearly Update for each school year. This allows you to review and verify your student’s information before the new school year begins.
RETURNING FAMILIES
Families who already have a Parent Portal account:
Visit bit.ly/wcsparentportal or log in through the Parent Portal app.
Click More in the left-hand menu.
Select Yearly Update.
Review and verify your information.
Submit your Yearly Update.
💡 TIP FOR FAMILIES WITH MULTIPLE CHILDREN:
You only need one Parent Portal account! Use the drop-down menu in the top-right corner to switch between your students and complete the Yearly Update for each child.
TECHNOLOGY FEE WAIVER
The Direct Services letters were sent to families earlier this month. You can submit this letter to your student’s school for fees to be waived. If you did not receive a Direct Services letter, your family can request a fee waiver by submitting a Needs Based Assistance Request through the form on our district website, which can be found under News or Families > Needs Based Assistance, or at this link - https://bit.ly/wcsnba
SCHOOLCASH ONLINE INFORMATION
Wilson County Schools accepts online payments from families through SchoolCash Online. Our goal is to reduce the use of cash and checks at our schools, making payments easier and more secure for everyone.
With SchoolCash Online, families can:

We encourage all families to register for the system so you’ll receive notifications about fees for things like field trips, athletics and technology.

EXENCIÓN DE CUOTAS DE TECNOLOGÍA
Las cartas de Servicios Directos se enviaron a las familias a principios de este mes. Puede presentar esta carta en la escuela de su hijo para solicitar la exención de las cuotas. Si no recibió una carta de Servicios Directos, su familia puede solicitar la exención de las cuotas presentando una Solicitud de Asistencia Basada en Necesidades a través del formulario en el sitio web de nuestro distrito, que puede encontrar en Noticias o Familias > Asistencia Basada en Necesidades, o en este enlace.https://bit.ly/wcsnba
