Greetings Eagles Family,

This is Samantha Charles-Dixon Principal of Daniels Learning Center calling with this week’s announcements.

This week our students will participate in a Panorama survey that will provide us with feedback on how to best meet our students' social emotional needs.

Students will take their assessments to determine whether or not they will boost October 12th-15th. Students must score a 70 or higher on their assessments. They must also have a 70 or higher in math, ELA, science, and social studies. Students should also not have more than 4 unexcused absences.

Tuesday October 6 from 5:30-7:30 pm Wilson Community College is offering a Career Pathway Summit for students interested in learning about lasting careers. Local Industry leaders will be present and conducting hands-on demos. The event will be hosted in the Lee Technology Center.

The end of the marking period is on October 15th and report card pickup will be on October 26th.

I’d also like to remind parents that our students are actively engaged in a reading program called PowerUp from 7:30 to 8:00. If they miss out of this time they are missing out on a valuable learning opportunity that helps learn to read and comprehend better. Missing this time also has a negative impact on their grade in their reading class. Please help us by having our students here on time.

Students who are accumulating more than 3 tardies are subject to serving lunch detention.

All students and families are invited to the Career Pathway Summit on Tues., Oct. 6 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Lee Technology Center and Wilson Academy of Applied Technology, located at 4815 Ward Blvd. We are excited to partner with Wilson Community College for this event. Come learn more about Career & Technical Education pathways that lead to amazing careers in computer science, health science, agriculture education, finance, public safety and more! There will be hands-on activities, demonstrations from industry leaders, FREE Pelican’s SnoBalls and door prizes that include a MacBook, Airpods and an iPad 11! This is Samantha Charles-Dixon, Principal of Daniels Learning Center, calling with this week’s announcements.

Progress reports will go out on September 29th.

Please remember that students who miss more than 4 days in the first nine weeks are in danger of not being boosted. Students are in danger of being retained if they miss more than 18 days in a school year.

Academics and attendance go hand in hand. Our students cannot learn if they aren’t attending school. Remember, at Daniels we FLY: “Focus, Lead, and Yearn to Learn”.

Please remind our students to remain focused in the classroom. This means they are paying attention, on task, and following classroom expectations. We are at the midway point of the first nine weeks, and I want them to remember our goals of boosting and promotion!

This is Samantha Charles-Dixon, Principal of Daniels Learning Center, calling with this week’s announcements.

We’d like to thank everyone who came to our “Tips and Tea with Principal D and Counselor” event. If you couldn't make it, contact the school to schedule a time to come in and learn how you can support your student.

This is a reminder to the parents of 7th grade students that students will be excluded on September 23 if documentation of their updated immunizations is not provided. Letters were sent home with the students who need immunizations.

Lastly, progress reports will go out next week on September 29th, and I’d like to remind our students to remain focused in the classroom. This means you are paying attention, on task, and following classroom expectations. We are at the midway point of the first nine weeks, and I want you to remember our goals of boosting and promotion!

For those that we missed at our 12:30pm session today, please come to our 6:00pm session this evening. We have cookies! and a give away basket. We are ready to answer your questions and give you all the information you need to help your student be successful this year. A Spanish translator will be on hand. SEE YOU ALL AT 6PM!

TODAY IS THE DAY!! We want to see our parents/guardians at either our 12:30pm or our 6:00pm showing of TIPS & TEA with PRINICPAL D & COUNSELOR B. We will be giving Tips on navigating technology, Google Classroom, Infinite Campus, and Edgenuity. We will also have information on our SEL goals for the year with our students. THERE WILL BE A GIVE AWAY for one lucky person that attends (give away per session). Light refreshments will be served.

This is Samantha Charles-Dixon, Principal of Daniels Learning, calling with this week's announcements.

Last week, progress reports were sent home. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child's teachers, please do so using the Parent Intake/Conference link posted on our page and our student website. Our students are off to a great start. Please continue to encourage our students to study, complete all assignments at school, and work on their Edgenuity each night.

We will be having our first “Tips and Tea with Principal D and Counselor B” on September 15th at 12:30 or 6:00 pm. This will allow you to choose which time is convenient for you. During this session, we will work with families to learn how to navigate Infinite Campus and Google Classroom so that you can monitor your students' progress. More information about this event will be on our school’s page.

This week marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. Please join us in honoring this important part of our shared history.

IMPORTANT EVENT COMING UP ON TUESDAY!! Tuesday, September 15, 2026, we will be hosting TIPS & TEA with Principal D and Counselor B. You can choose to come at either 12:30pm or 6:00pm. You are an important part of your student's and our success here at Daniels. We will be going over how to navigate the technology/software that WCS and your students are using. This includes Google Classroom, Infinite Campus, and Edgenuity, We will also be discussing SEL strategies and community resources.

Good evening, Daniels Eagles,
This is Samantha Charles-Dixon, Principal of Daniels Learning Center, calling with this week's announcements.

Tomorrow, September 7th, is Labor Day, and there will be no school for students and staff. School will resume on Tuesday.

As promised, we will be having our first “Tips and Tea with Principal D and Counselor B” on September 15th at 12:30 or 6:00 pm. This will allow you to choose which time is convenient for you. During this session, we will work with families to learn how to navigate Infinite Campus and Google Classroom so that you can monitor your student's progress. More information about this event will be on our school’s page.

Our first assessments will be during the week of September 13th. Please encourage your student to do their very best. The data from this assessment will help us assign groups for our ELA and Math tutoring opportunities during the school day. It will also help us determine what skills need to be retaught to ensure our students score a 70 or higher on their final assessment to be boosted.

My last announcement is that students are expected to follow the Wilson County School’s dress code policy. If our young ladies and gentlemen have rips above the knee in their jeans, they need to make sure they have tights, leggings, or shorts underneath to cover the skin above their fingertips, and their shirts should cover their bellies and backs.
