This is an important announcement for riders of Bus 196. Bus 196 bus riders will arrive this afternoon on Bus 542. Again, look for Bus 542 this afternoon if your child rides Bus 196.

Good Evening Panther Parents and Guardians,

This is Dr. Lott, Assistant Principal of Vick Elementary with this week's parent announcements.

Get ready to celebrate our Hispanic Heritage Month Spirit Week from Monday,October 12th to Friday, October 16th. We will start with wearing red, white, and blue for the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. If your child would like to wear authentic attire celebrating their heritage or a Hispanic country they admire, they are welcome to do so throughout the week in addition to the daily themes!

Mark Your Calendars: Our next family engagement night will take place on Monday, October 26 from 6:00-7:30 PM. The theme will be Vick-O-Treat: Read, Treat, and Repeat.

Volunteer System Requirement: To participate in field trips or eat lunch with your child, you must complete and be approved in our volunteer system. This simple step helps us maintain a safe environment for all students. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Walkers: Wait across the street at the crossing guard area (not in the parking lot). Students will be escorted out at 2:55 pm.
Car riders: Stay in your vehicle—staff will come to you for car tag number or child's name
Do not park and walk up to the school for safety reasons.

Bus Riders: All of our buses generally depart Vick by 3:15 PM. Buses begin loading at 2:55 PM. Our buses depart in the following order each day: 168 (first), 231, 195, and 196 (last). In the event of a late bus, we will send out a message via Blackboard Connect and/or Social Media. Be at your child’s stop on time each afternoon!

It’s time to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Week at Vick!

The Vick community is made even more special by the many cultures, traditions, and countries represented by our Panther families. From October 12–15, we’re celebrating the Hispanic cultures and countries that help make Vick a GREAT place to be!

Students and staff are invited to join the celebration each day by wearing traditional clothing, soccer jerseys, or the colors of the featured countries.

We can’t wait to see our Panthers showing their culture, pride, and Panther spirit all week long!

Bus 167 will run the AM route on time, and Bus 542 will run the PM routes on time. If your child normally rides Bus 196, look for Bus 167 in the AM and Bus 542 in the PM on Monday, October 5, 2026.

All students and families are invited to the Career Pathway Summit on Tues., Oct. 6 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Lee Technology Center and Wilson Academy of Applied Technology, located at 4815 Ward Blvd. We are excited to partner with Wilson Community College for this event. Come learn more about Career & Technical Education pathways that lead to amazing careers in computer science, health science, agriculture education, finance, public safety and more! There will be hands-on activities, demonstrations from industry leaders, FREE Pelican’s SnoBalls and door prizes that include a MacBook, Airpods and an iPad 11! Beginning on Monday, September 28, 2026, Bus 195 has been replaced by Bus 187. If your child previously rode Bus 195, they will now ride Bus 187.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday (9/29) and Wednesday (9/30) of this week, Bus 231 will run on the following schedule:

Bus 167 will run the AM routes on time, and Bus 542 will run the PM routes on time on both days. Again, if your child normally rides Bus 231, look for Bus 167 in the AM and Bus 542 in the PM on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Starting today, students who ride Bus 195 will begin riding Bus 187. Again, if your child currently rides Bus 195, please begin looking for Bus 187 in the mornings and the afternoons.

Meanwhile, students who normally ride Bus 231 will ride Bus 542 this afternoon.

Both Bus routes will run on time.

Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who attended Chapter 1: The First Chapter Family Engagement Night last Monday, September 21st. We always enjoy meeting with parents and families. These opportunities help us forge relationships that benefit the instructional foundations for our young Panthers! We hope that you will mark your calendars for our next family engagement night on Monday, October 26 from 6:00-7:30 PM. The theme will be Vick-O-Treat: Read, Treat, and Repeat.

URGENT: Student Immunizations: We are past the exclusion date and some of our students are in jeopardy of being excluded if parents do not provide accurate, up to date immunization documentation ASAP. Letters have been sent home over the past few weeks. Please ensure that up-to-date immunization records for your child have been submitted to the front office as soon as possible.

Important: Parents, each year you must update your child’s proof of residency. Please send or bring 2 proofs of residency for your child to the front office. You may send these documents with your child if you cannot make it to the school building.
