Good Evening Vick Parents and Guardians,
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all our parents, guardians, caretakers, and students for a great first day of school!
As a reminder, doors open at 7:30 AM, and during this first week of school, parents are allowed to walk students to classes. All parents are asked to exit the building by 8:00 AM. Students are not allowed to enter the building prior to 7:30 AM, and students who arrive after 8:00 AM are counted tardy.
Kindergarten Parents: Please continue to follow the schedule provided to you by the kindergarten team during open house. Kindergarten enrollment is staggered. If your kindergarten student attended school on Monday, he or she will not return until Wednesday. If your kindergarten student attends on Tuesday, he or she will return on Wednesday. All kindergarten students will attend school on Wednesday - Friday this week.
Each day, the breakfast serving line opens at 7:30 AM and closes at 8:10 AM. All students are offered breakfast. Extend patience in the serving line, as our cafeteria staff need to identify students by name. Please make sure your child can say their first and last name clearly.
During the first two weeks of school, we ask parents to refrain from eating lunch with students to give staff time to teach students our cafeteria expectations. Parents and guardians who wish to eat lunch with their child during the school year must complete the volunteer application to be approved before eating lunch with students. All students are offered lunch in the cafeteria each day.
Student dismissal begins at 2:55 PM. Walkers are the first group of students dismissed. Parents of walkers should wait across the street at the crossing guard area. Please do not wait in the parking lot or walk up to the school to retrieve your student, as this is a safety concern. Walker students will be escorted across the street by staff members at 2:55 PM.
Additionally, parents of car riders must wait in their cars to pick up students. Staff will come to your vehicle to either get your car tag number or your child's name. If you need a car tag, please notify the front office. Please do not park and walk up to the school to retrieve students, as this is a safety concern.
Parents who wish to request a bus assignment should come to the front office to complete a bus request form. Students are not allowed to ride a school bus until they have been assigned. This year, Vick is served by Bus 168, 195, 196, and 231. Buses generally begin their routes each morning at approximately 6:40 AM. Conversely, buses generally depart Vick each afternoon no later than 3:15 AM. If our bus routes are running later than usual, we will send out a notice.
If you need to make a PM transportation change, please contact the front office at 252-399-7886 before 2:30 PM.
