Had to share this picture from the Alumni Hall of Fame induction last night. Our former history teacher Tom Reigel was there. His son Luke was one of my fellow inductees. Mr Reigel is on the left in this pic, then Samantha Kerkman (our State Representative, class of ‘92), me, and Luke Reigel. He actually remembered me and gave me a hug. The name threw him off - but once I said Shelly Berger he made the connection. 😊

Hi classmates! I hope you are all doing well.

I (Shelly Poteracki) wanted to let you know that I will be inducted into the Wilmot High School Alumni Hall of Fame this coming Friday, September 7th. The inductees will be announced at the start of the football game, around 7:15 pm. (Or it may be at half-time. I’ll clarify when I know for sure.)

I am honored to join Brian Hibbeln and Wendy Jensen Hottenstein in representing the Class of ‘87 in the Hall of Fame.
(I think this gives us the most members for any class!) I certainly don’t feel that my accomplishments compare to theirs, but the committee selected me for my ‘significant contributions to society through my professional career and through service to the community’.

Just wanted to let you all know in case you will be at the game or would like to attend.

Several of you have asked about a 30-year reunion this year. (Has it really been 30 years?)

There are 3 of us that usually plan these. We've agreed that none of us can possibly take on the task of planning one this year.

If anyone else would like to do it, please feel free! I (Shelly) would be happy to collect money and coordinate payment for things from the account, but that's about all I can do this year.

To my fellow classmates: Wilmot High School is in need of volunteers for Reality Check Day. The event is Friday morning, May 22, from about 7:15 a.m. until approximately noon. (The school provides breakfast and lunch for volunteers.)

If you're not aware, Reality Check Day is like the final exam for Financial Literacy class, a required class for seniors. It is basically a lesson in real life - budgeting, taxes, expenses, etc. We didn't have anything like this back in our day, and I sure wish we did!

The school asks adult volunteers from the community to come in and help. We each get to man a station where the kids have to come and "pay" for things like housing, insurance, vehicles, etc. The students each get a paycheck at the beginning, and have to have money left at the end. It is very eye-opening for them, and a great way to interact with them and make a difference.

I have been volunteering for Reality Check Day ever since it started, so I can answer any questions you may have.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say that I had a wonderful time last night! It was great to see all of you. We've received lots of positive feedback so far, so it sounds like everyone enjoyed themselves.

Thank you again to Christina Steder for all of your help and especially to Kim Siewierski Carcelli for your efforts and diligence in finding everyone, updating posts, and for keeping things running last night IN ADDITION TO providing the musical entertainment.

Also, a special thanks to those of you who took the time to express your thanks and appreciation to us. It really means a lot. It was all worth it last night. :)
