Freire Wilmington is a place where all students can come to unlock bright futures for themselves--with hard work of course. In August 2015, we opened our doors to our founding classes in our magnificent new school building at 201 West 14th Street. Our building is in the historic Mid-Town Brandywine neighborhood and off the banks of the picturesque Brandywine River. It's a location your child will truly love calling their "second home".

Freire Charter School Wilmington was proud to serve as a host site for the 2026 Crozier Classic 🏀 a legacy-driven, high-intensity summer basketball showcase featuring some of the region’s top boys and girls talent.

We were honored to welcome Gerald Gilmore, who shared the powerful history and impact of the Crozier Classic, while Coach Calvin led Freire to an impressive Final Four run in this year’s tournament. 💪🏿

🚨🚨 HAPPENING JULY 27 - JULY 30 🚨🚨

Our students have spent the summer building real-world skills in entrepreneurship and learning the fundamentals of car detailing. NOW it is time to put it into action. 🧽🫧🚗

Join us on campus for our student-operated car wash, where young people are leading the full experience from service to strategy. This initiative, powered by our community partner Born4Brothers, has guided students through hands-on training, teamwork, and ownership of their work.

Come out, support, and get your car cleaned while investing in youth leadership and collaboration.
