Hello Teacher Peeps. The inventor of the Little Free Library was dyslexic.

He busts all the myths about dyslexia. He struggled to learn to read, even though…

1. His mother was a teacher.

2. He had plenty of books at home.

3. He loved books, but could not read with ease.

4. He went to the library.

5. His parents read to him.

6. He got extra help. Sadly, it was not provided by a skilled dyslexia tutor.

7. He was bright, smart, motivated, hard working, creative, philanthropic, inventive, determined and dyslexic.

8. Sadly, his school did not offer early identification, proper remediation or high quality literacy instruction.

9. He passed away from cancer before he had a chance to create free tutoring resources for every struggling reader.

10. Take a book. Leave a book. Make sure each child is taught HOW to read the books.

Every educator can get FREE training from the Cox Campus and follow https://www.understood.org/.

No one will learn everything in college or from work training where information is just at an introductory level.

Expexting any job to provide all training about learning differences has been very detrimental to the children for 150 years. It’s 2025. Any educator can learn more via the internet.

It’s up to every person working with children to do their own lifelong learning and routinely update their knowledge by following a wide range of professional groups to keep them informed.

Thousands of agencies offer a vast fund of knowledge so every educator can know better and do better.

The International Dyslexia Association, Learning Disabilities Association of America, The Reading League, National Center on Improving Literacy are a good starting point.

Imagine if every USA school shared resources about dyslexia and all learning differences on the school website.

Imagine if all staff understood learning differences because the school valued all children. Every child matters.
