🌟🧬 Nature vs. Nurture: The Stargirl Edition! 🌱💜
Who are we? Is it nature, nurture, or a little bit of BOTH? 🤔✨
7th graders in Ms. Murphy's and Mrs. Courtwright's class became literary detectives 🔎 as they explored Stargirl’s unique personality, analyzed how family, friends, and peer pressure shape identity, and supported their thinking with text evidence! 📚
With colorful markers and chart paper, creative Venn diagrams, and collaborative discussions, students brought their ideas to life! 🎨⭐ This activity helped prepped them for their essay writing. AND their work became anchor charts for other classes too!
Because being different is what makes us shine! ✨🌟

🐊 CLUBS WERE A HIT! 🎉

Friday was all about connection, creativity, and finding your people! 💙🧡 Students across ALL grade levels had the opportunity to come together and connect over shared interests, and our clubs were a HIT!

From 🏀 Basketball, ⚽ Soccer, and 🏐 Volleyball to 💅 Nail Club, 🎬 Movie Club, 💃 Myrtle Grove Dance Club, 🍴 Gator Bites, 🗣️ Debate Club, 🎨 Crafty Gators, 🖌️ Artistic Gators, 🧶 Yarn Club, and so many more… there’s something for everyone at the Grove! 🙌

These are just a FEW of the amazing moments captured during Week 1, and we can’t wait to share more photos as the year goes on! 📸

Heads up! Early voting begins Thursday, October 15th.

Voters will consider a proposed $320.5 million bond referendum for New Hanover County Schools.

If approved, the bond would fund projects that address our greatest facility needs across the district, technology & systems upgrades, and enhanced safety.

🌱💙 Jr. Beta is off to a great start! 🧡🐊

Our Jr. Beta Club held their first meeting of the year today, bringing together a group of Gators ready to lead, serve, and make a difference! ⭐️

We’re also excited to congratulate our newly elected Jr. Beta officers! 🎉 We can’t wait to see the leadership and fresh ideas they bring to the club this year.

A special shoutout to Mr. Fox, our AIG teacher and Jr. Beta Club advisor, for helping guide and support our students as they grow as leaders! 👏

🩺🔬 Learning Beyond the Classroom! 🧤✨

Our 6th graders had an exciting opportunity to learn about careers in the operating room from Ms. Wright, an RN with Novant Health! 🏥

Students rotated through hands-on activity stations where they explored surgical instruments, practiced suturing, and even tried their hand at using instruments similar to those used in laparoscopic surgeries! 👩‍⚕️🪡🔍

What an awesome way to connect learning to real-world careers and give our Gators a glimpse into the world of healthcare! 💙🧡🐊
