Community Education Building

Community Education Building The Community Education Building's (CEB) vision is to transform lives through equitable education opportunity. The CEB is located at 1200 N.

Thanks to the generosity of Bank of America, the Community Education Building is dedicated to offering a world-class public education experience to over 2,000 students in Wilmington, Delaware. Our mission is to build the best educational support system possible that allows every student who walks through our doors an equitable opportunity to be successful. French Street in Wilmington, Delaware, ha

s been made possible by the generosity of Bank of America and the Longwood Foundation. Bank of America donated the building, formerly known as Bracebridge IV, to the Longwood Foundation. Building on a long history of commitment to public education and nonprofits, the Longwood Foundation has transformed the building into a home for high-performing charter schools and partner tenants with aligning missions and an emphasis on providing a world class K-12 public education to Wilmington's children. This co-location concept allows the use of shared facilities, services and resources thereby leading to the collective optimization of both facility and school operating costs.

We are so thankful for our Youth Advocates, particularly Amali and Jazzleen, for their contribution to making us build on the YDC vision.

These students participated in the foundational work of cultivating The YDC, from discussing blueprints for the building design to facilitating some of the first programs and mentorship in this learning space.

The sky is the only limit for the legacy our youth can create within this campus. We trust in their leadership.

We wish all of our community members, students, families, collaborators, elected officials, and team an amazing school year ahead. We are so excited to see how vastly the YDC impacts us all.

What a bright day for Wilmington!

On Friday, we officially opened the doors to the Community Education Building’s new Youth Development Center with YDC Fest and the community SHOWED UP.

Young people. Families. Elected officials. Community leaders. Partners. Supporters. All together to celebrate something much bigger than the opening of a building.

We opened the doors to possibility.

CEB’s Youth Development Center represents what can happen when a community comes together around its young people — creating a place where they can learn, connect, create, move, discover and grow.

A tremendous THANK YOU to every partner, sponsor and donor who believed in this vision and helped bring it to life. Your investment isn’t simply in a building it’s an investment in Wilmington’s young people and their futures.

Thank you as well to the elected officials and community leaders who joined us, lent their voices and continue to champion Wilmington’s children and families.

And most importantly, thank you, Wilmington.

We are so grateful for the way students like Amali contributed to the development of this project she and several other Kuumba Academy Charter School and Great Oaks Charter-Wilmington students were major contributors to the project making sure that the community and specifically youth voices were heard and that their needs and dreams would be factored into the design of this educational facility.

We are so happy that she is among our first cohort of youth advocates that will be working out of The YDC, and that she will be able to continue to grow within the CEB family throughout her high school and collegiate career because of this new learning environment .

We are only days away from the YDC FEST! We can’t wait to see you there!!

From first steps to first diplomas, May marked a milestone moment for the Community Education Building collaborative.

Last week, we had the honor of celebrating two graduations happening simultaneously across our campus: the inaugural Pre-K graduation of the YMCA Early Learning Academy inside the Youth Development Center (YDC) and Kuumba Academy’s Kindergarten graduation in the CEB Atrium.

Two locations. Two graduations. One shared vision.

These celebrations represented far more than academic milestones. They reflected the realization of what the CEB collaborative was designed to achieve: a cradle-to-career educational ecosystem where children and families can access opportunity, support, and excellence at every stage of their journey.

This year, several students who began their educational experience at the YMCA Early Learning Academy will matriculate directly into Kuumba Academy’s 2026–2027 Kindergarten class, creating a seamless pathway for learning, growth, and achievement within our collaborative.

As families, educators, community partners, and supporters gathered to celebrate these young scholars, we were reminded why collaborative models matter. When institutions work together with intention, students experience continuity, community, and care from their earliest years and throughout their educational journey.

Congratulations to every graduate, family member, educator, and partner who helped make these moments possible. Thank you and for your commitment to our city’s young scholars. The future isn’t something we’re waiting because it’s already taking shape right here in Wilmington.
