In preparation for the upcoming National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Conference that will be hosted in the Warwick Center on May 3rd & 4th, we are accepting donations of red dresses (both adult sizes and kid sizes) that will be put on display around campus to symbolize the many missing and murdered women and children in North Carolina.

There will be a donation box in Bear Hall Room 207.

We are honored to be working in collaboration with MMIW NC Coalition to assist UNCW in hosting this year's National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Conference! Our very own Dr. Raguparan, along with several other UNCW departments, have been devotedly working to ensure this event will properly honor and bring awareness to the countless missing and murdered Indigenous women and children in North Carolina.

Students in the Sociology and Criminology MA program partnered with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce (WCOC) to evaluate their new program for 7th grade students in New Hanover County called the Community and Leadership Development Academy. Students analyzed existing quantitative and qualitative data, developed a data collection protocol for the program, and provided an evaluation of alignment with program goals based on their work over the course of the semester. Students presented their findings to the Director of Programs and Initiatives and to the President of the WCOC. Due to their impressive presentation, they were invited to present to the Board of Directors for the WCOC as well.

This past week, 13 UNCW criminology and sociology students were hosted by Keele University (UK) staff, faculty and students on a study-abroad program to learn about crime and criminology in England and Wales.
