Since the 2014-2015 school year, Red Clay has been participating with local universities to provide yearlong residency placements for teacher candidates. The purpose of the residencies is to prepare pre-service teachers to successfully fulfill teacher positions in the district. The yearlong internship pairs the novice educators with an experienced mentor teacher for the full length of a school year and prepares the residents to be fully prepared to take on their own classroom from day one.

On Monday, August 9, Governor John Carney signed HB 178: An Act to Amend Title 14 of the Delaware Code Relating to Yearlong Teacher Residency Program ​into law. The bill allows yearlong teacher interns across the state of Delaware to receive a stipend. Stay tuned as we introduce our newest cohort of teachers who recently completed their yearlong Teacher Residency.
