Congratulations to St. Michael's 2026 Pre-K Graduates! 🎉

Last Friday, St. Michael's proudly celebrated the graduation of 28 amazing pre-K students at our Moving Up Ceremony! Friends and families filled Bethel AME Church to honor this special milestone as our rising kindergarteners prepare to begin the next chapter of their educational journey. This fall, they will head to 14 different public, private, and charter schools across our community.

The learning doesn't stop here! Throughout the summer, our graduates will participate in K-Camp, St. Michael's Kindergarten Readiness Program, designed to help children and families make a confident transition to kindergarten. Through engaging classroom experiences, literacy and STEAM enrichment, field trips, opportunities to practice new routines in larger classroom settings, and bus trips to their new schools, our students will build the confidence and skills they need for a successful start this fall.

We are so proud of each and every one of you! While we will miss seeing your smiling faces every day, we know you are leaving St. Michael's with a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Congratulations, Class of 2026—we can't wait to see all that you accomplish!

This year, St. Michael’s was proud to partner with the Howard High School Teacher Academy K–12 Program, welcoming three senior students—Dominique, Nick, and Shanti—to our classrooms. As part of their senior-year co-op experience, these aspiring educators worked alongside our teachers in toddler and preschool classrooms for 4–5 hours each day, five days a week, gaining valuable hands-on experience while earning a competitive hourly wage.

Throughout the school year, they supported classroom activities, built meaningful relationships with children, and developed practical skills that will serve them well in future education careers. We recently celebrated their graduation with a special party alongside the students they came to know so well.

We are especially excited that Dom and Shanti will continue their educational journey with St. Michael’s this summer before heading off to college in the fall.

The Howard High School Teacher Academy prepares students for careers in education through classroom instruction, field experience, industry-recognized certifications, and opportunities to earn college credits. By providing real-world learning opportunities, this partnership helps cultivate the next generation of educators while enriching the experiences of the children we serve.

Our collaboration with Howard High School is truly a win-win—supporting young people as they explore careers in education while strengthening the future workforce of early childhood professionals.

Last week, our Executive Director, Lucinda Ross, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the DEAEYC's annual gala. We want to send a big congratulations, with gratitude to Lucinda and the rest of the evening's award winners. Thank you for putting Delaware's children first!
