I’M NOT JUST LAUNCHING A BOOK. I’M BUILDING A FUTURE FOR MY SON. 💙📖
Three years ago, when I bought this T-shirt for my son, I thought it was cute.
“Yes, so what, I have autism. Keep staring. I may be your boss someday!”
At the time, it felt like a hopeful statement.
Today, it feels like a calling.
As I look at this photo now, I don’t just see a little boy standing proudly in front of a car.
I see the little boy who made me a mother.
The little boy who changed my entire life.
The little boy whose autism diagnosis shattered my heart one day, only for him to spend the years that followed teaching me what strength, resilience, and unconditional love truly look like.
There was a time when I cried behind closed doors.
A time when I worried constantly about his future.
Would he ever speak?
Would he ever be independent?
Would he ever find his place in this world?
Would people see his abilities, or only his challenges?
And then came the question that every autism parent fears but rarely says out loud:
What happens when my child becomes an adult?
Because autism doesn’t disappear at 18.
In many ways, that’s when the real battle begins.
The therapies become fewer.
The support becomes limited.
The opportunities become harder to find.
And suddenly, parents like me are left wondering who will believe in our children when the world stops seeing them as children.
That question has been sitting heavily on my heart for years.
And one day, I decided I could either live in fear…
Or I could start building.
Building opportunities.
Building stability.
Building a legacy.
Building something that could one day create a place for my son.
That is why this book means so much more than a memoir.
This book is my heart on paper.
It is the story of becoming a mother.
The story of autism.
The story of divorce.
The story of survival.
The story of learning how to stand back up when life knocks you down.
But most importantly, it is the beginning of a dream.
A dream that by the time my son turns 18, I will have built something meaningful enough that he can be part of it.
A business.
A platform.
A purpose.
A place where he can contribute.
A place where he can belong.
A place where he can be valued for who he is.
A place where he can wake up every day knowing he matters.
Because every child deserves the dignity of purpose.
Every child deserves opportunities.
And every autistic child deserves a future filled with possibility.
When people ask why I work so hard, why I advocate so much, why I’m pouring everything I have into this book launch, the answer is simple:
I’m fighting for my son’s future.
Not just for today.
Not just for next year.
But for the decades ahead.
Because one day I won’t be here to hold his hand.
And that thought terrifies me.
But what gives me peace is knowing that everything I do today can help create a better tomorrow for him.
