This week is blackbabywearingweek, and Delaware Babywearing Connection is proud to offer support to this incredible cause- a cause that is often underserved and underrepresented in the babywearing world.
•
•
People like Diamond from mammissibirthservices, Black Babywearing Week, Black Babywearing Educators, Black owned Babywearing brands like heritagebabydesigns and babuebabycarriers… all of these amazing resources help to not only bring Babywearing back to Black families, but they also help to educate the rest of the Babywearing community.
•
•
What can you do to support ? If you are an educator, start volunteering teaching Black families! Work to get these much needed services to communities. DBC will be volunteering with blackmothersinpower in Wilmington for their Babywearing class next week!
•
•
Babywearing is ancestral for Black people, and sadly it’s been lost due to many things- and it’s time we, as allies, do our part to bring it back to communities. If you would like to support Babywearing in the Black Community, you can make a donation to Mammissi to help get more programs out there.

About Amber:
Amber is a mother and a Babywearing Educator who has been babywearing and teaching for over 12 years. An absolute wealth of knowledge, Amber trained at Center for Babywearing Studies, has worked with well known babywearing brands, taught many classes, and helped many caregivers become comfortable in their own babywearing journey. We at DBC absolutely love her and everything about her, and can’t recommend this class enough for those new to babywearing.

We had so much fun at the Bump & Beyond at Sunny Day Play Cafe this morning! We were so busy in fact, that we all forgot to take photos!
•
•
But this one. This one is of Amber, one of our lovely guest educators, and Brittany’s daughter Flick. And it speaks so loudly and proudly to what we do: pass the knowledge to the next generation of sisters, of mothers, of daughters, ensuring a never ending cycle of support and love.
•
•
That is why we do what we do. 💜🩵
I watched a mother today, timid at first to learn how to use her carrier. She was a brand new, 4th trimester mom. Slowly, we taught her the tips and tricks. As she looked in our mirror and saw that she, indeed, was able to do this and be comfortable, we watched her blossom in her power as a woman. Her confidence grew, her shoulders pushed back, and she stood tall with confidence. As she left glowing with pride, carrying her baby safely on her, I quietly said to Amber babywearingunicorn….
“That is why we do what we do.”
•
•
And this picture, it says that, and more. Aunties teaching even the youngest, ensuring this knowledge will forever live amongst women.

•
Thank you to dr.lizzy_rgpt, growingfamiliesbirth, annamcdermott_clc and Sunny Day for having us at your lovely event! And thank you Lizzy for the second picture!
