This past summer camp brought many of our Quiet Storm students together as they helped support each other preparing for rank demonstrations. We even had several of the testing students run out to uke for friends during their demonstrations! Thank you to everyone who helped us on the day of our tests and on the path to preparation. Quiet Storm has multiple students to celebrate after excellent demonstrations at Kokikai Summer Camp! Vanja Bucic, James Walls, and Nikita Orlov demonstrated for Nidan, while Shannon Diiorio represented Quiet Storm for Shodan. Pat McErlean also tested at our dojo in Wilmington, Delaware for his 6th kyu and Evie Walls earned her 5th kyu! Congratulations to everyone who gained rank recently at Summer camp or at home!

One of our students owns and operates one of the coolest comic book shops in the area, at 1855 Marsh Road. To help celebrate the amazing holiday, FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, SATURDAY MAY 2nd, the Quiet Storm Dojo was invited to host an informational table to spread the word about Kokikai Aikido, Sensei Rick Berry, and our wonderful community.

It was a blast! We got to talk to a lot of people about Aikido and martial arts in general. Quite a few had never heard of Aikido, but a surprising number of people had seen the big sign on 202 and never thought to ask: so we clued them in on our wonderful community! It was also great to meet fellow martial artists, who gladly shared their experiences with us.

We’re excited to invite you to a Safety & Self-Defense event happening at the dojo this Thursday April 30th from 4:00–5:00pm led by Professor Simms. The session is being sponsored by a local mortgage team. Simms has put together a really valuable, practical presentation focused on real-world awareness and personal safety.

This session is great for all experience levels and could be valuable for family members, spouses, relatives or anyone who could benefit from increased confidence and awareness in everyday situations, so feel free to pass this along.
