We are starting Day 2 today. This school year has already been filled with excitement and smiles! We can't wait to see what this year will bring for our Lions!

Join us on August 11th from 4-6pm for the 26-27 Open House! This is the perfect time to:

-Meet the Teachers and Staff
-Tour the classroom and school grounds
-Get important information for the school year (school calendar, transportation, etc)

***IMPORTANT Info from NHCS Bus Garage***

A bus stop request is required for:
-First-time bus riders
-Students with a new address
-Students who were recently de-assigned before school was out for the summer
-Students previously approved for an alternate stop as an exception (not home address)

All K-2 students will need a NEW drop-off form signed each school year.

Deadline for bus stop requests is July 15, 2026. Any changes or additional requests MUST be submitted BEFORE July 15th in order to have a bus the first 2 weeks of school. Please make sure your address is updated at the school BEFORE July 15th.

¡Acompáñennos el 11 de agosto, de 4:00 p. m. a 6:00 p. m., para la jornada de puertas abiertas (Open House) del ciclo escolar 26-27! Es el momento ideal para:

-Conocer a los maestros y al personal
-Recorrer el salón de clases y las instalaciones de la escuela
-Obtener información importante para el año escolar (calendario escolar, transporte, etc.)

***Información IMPORTANTE del Departamento de Transporte (Bus Garage) de NHCS***

Es necesario solicitar una parada de autobús para:
-Alumnos que usarán el autobús por primera vez
-Alumnos con una nueva dirección
-Alumnos a quienes se les canceló la asignación de transporte poco antes de las vacaciones de verano
-Alumnos que previamente tenían aprobada una parada alternativa como excepción (distinta a la dirección de su domicilio)

Todos los alumnos de los grados K-2 necesitarán un formulario de entrega (drop-off) NUEVO firmado cada año escolar.

La fecha límite para solicitar paradas de autobús es el 15 de julio de 2026. Cualquier cambio o solicitud adicional DEBE presentarse ANTES del 15 de julio para garantizar el servicio de autobús durante las primeras dos semanas de clases. Por favor, asegúrense de que su dirección esté actualizada en la escuela ANTES del 15 de julio.

We'd like to send a special thank you to our partners for our North Carolina camps!

Thanks to a grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund we've been able to bring our flagship camps to new areas of NC. This year we hosted our first camp in Wilmington, NC at DCVPA, a UNCW school. We were also lucky enough to return for a second time to Elizabeth City, NC with ECPPS and SparkNC.

Thank you so much for allowing us to expand our network and bring the world of game development to even more kids. This summer has had one of our highest attendance rates in recent years and we couldn't have done it without you! 🎮 ✨

What better way to welcome back returning staff and welcome in new staff then with good food?!

📢 Important Update: The first day of school at D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy is now Thursday, August 13.
This additional time will allow us to onboard new teachers, prepare classrooms, and ensure we're ready to start the school year strong. Families should check their email for additional details, including free Boys & Girls Club programming for eligible students during the week of August 6–12. We look forward to welcoming everyone back soon!
