UNCW scholars will be hosting a Summer Institute of 6-12 educators focused on understanding the 1898 Wilmington coup and massacre. This important work is supported by the National Endowmwnt of the Humanities.
UNCW Hosts NEH Summer Institute on 1898 Wilmington Coup
Twenty-five middle and high school teachers from 12 states will gather at UNCW July 8-19 for a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute that focuses on the 1898 Wilmington coup and massacre, the only successful coup d’état in the nation’s history.

Congratulations to Professor Dr. Yaw Chang who was inducted as a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors. He joins 124 new Senior Members this year. These innovators have "success in patents, licensing, and commercialization and have produced technologies that have brought or aspire to bring, real impact on the welfare of society." (NAI) Dr. Chang is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

A research team led by UNCW: Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences Professor Eman Ghoneim discovers lost Nile River branch. The team's findings may explain the location of the largest Egyptian pyramid field!

Congratulations to the 21 faculty who were awarded a Charles L. Cahill grant from the Office of Research and Innovation! This catalytic funding is to encourage the pursuit of new areas of research, scholarship, or artistic endeavors.
