The team at MarineQuest is beyond excited for Dr. K’s next adventure … RETIREMENT. But to say she is going to be missed is an understatement. Not only has she been a mentor to so many (including all of us), she’s been the wave pushing MarineQuest forward at UNCW for over 13 years. Dr. K is going to leave behind a legacy that has paved the way for our youth to gain a full, hands-on experience as a marine scientist. Our hopes at MarineQuest is that we continue her legacy of high-level creativity, continued academic outreach, and STEM grant initiatives.

As you close this chapter, we hope you always remember this ... MarineQuest is where it is today because of your hard work, dedication and sacrifice!

Love,
The MarineQuest Staff

Engineering Expectations will not be hosting engineer camps this summer, but for exciting reasons! Recently, our amazing camp director Jasmine Gaston was offered a position with NASA. She is currently working for NASA as an aerospace engineer with the propulsions group. Guess what project she is working on – the next moon mission! How cool is that? We have hired a new engineer to take over the position, but he will not join our team until summer. Patrick Kistler studied ocean engineering and will oversee the fusion of our engineering expectations program with MarineQuest. This transition reflects our service as a pipeline to the university’s new Coastal Engineering undergraduate program, the first of its kind in the US. This summer you can try out our engineering focused TECHNOcean camp!
