Public schools can only vary in so many ways. But these three things can vary a lot!

If you’re in the thick of deciding which schools to choose on your public school application, you’ve got to go on tours and see the school! Ask these three questions to get a feel about what makes one school different from the others.

I can promise you each school has something unique about it! Maybe it’s weekly emails from the principal, the diversity of the student population, The Leader In Me program, morning run clubs, or a strong PTA.

📣 Wilmington School Guide is looking for someone who would enjoy meeting with families to discuss their school options. Families who request Private Family Consultations are typically new to the area, and don’t know much about Wilmington schools! They need your guidance!

⌚️ Time Commitment: 2-4 consultations per month, with a clear path to growth (if you want that)! Consultations last about 1.5 hours and are typically in the evenings. (Post-bedtime if you have young kids! 🙌) Timing of meetings is flexible.

💻 Fully virtual. Due to most consultations being for families who are relocating, all meetings happen virtually.

📱 The right candidate should be comfortable posting on social media.

👉 Fr. Thomas F. Price Catholic High School

📍412 Ann Street (Tileston Building on the campus of the Basilica of St. Mary)

🏫 Fr. Price Catholic High School will be opening in the fall of 2025, and will welcome a small class of 9th, and potentially 10th graders. The school will add a grade each year, growing in enrollment and programs.

✏️ The FTPCHS committees are giving their maximum attention to securing an exceptional Head of School and developing a rigorous curriculum. The location will offer access to a science lab, auditorium, music room, and other valuable amenities and systems already in place.

💴 Tuition is still being finalized, but is expected to be in line with that of St. Mary and St. Mark. It is expected to be slightly less than other Christian high schools in the area.

✅ FTPCHS will accept the NC Opportunity Scholarship to make tuition more affordable.

📝 Applications for admission will be available the first week of February, and is open to all religious denominations.

🙋‍♀️ Parents of all age students (especially those of current middle schoolers) who are interested in learning more are invited to attend a Parent Information Meeting on 2/6 at 7pm in the Upper Room of the Tileston Building at the Basilica of St. Mary (412 Ann Street).

The simple answer is August 31, 2025 🎉

But what does this mean exactly?? Well, if you have a 5-year-old who had a birthday after 8/5/24 OR a 4-year-old who will have a birthday on or before 8/31/25, your child is eligible to start kindergarten next August!

To make sure it’s clear… you don’t have to wait until your child is 5 to register for any of the lotteries. As long as their 5th birthday is on or before 8/31, be sure to get your name in for the charter school or open choice lottery of your choice… don’t miss that window!
