Yesterday’s half-day to close out the school year was filled with celebration, gratitude, and great food!
We wrapped up the year by recognizing our final two Students of the Month with a special Chick-fil-A lunch and celebrating all of their hard work and growth.
We also took time to honor one of our most dedicated substitute teachers, Mrs. Bowman. Throughout the year, she has helped some of our students navigate their most challenging moments with patience, compassion, and unwavering support. She is truly an outstanding human being, and we wanted her to know just how much she is appreciated and loved by our school family.
To top it all off, our staff enjoyed an incredible lunch catered by a local favorite, On Thyme Restaurant. Thank you to Corey for taking such great care of us! The food was so delicious that there was hardly any conversation at the table—everyone was too busy eating!
It was the perfect way to end the year. Our staff left with full stomachs, full hearts, and a well-deserved opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy the summer (after we get through a few more teacher work days of course). ❤️⚓️

Your kindness, generosity, and continued support mean so much to us. We are truly grateful to have such wonderful ladies cheering on and supporting our team. Thank you for helping make our staff feel appreciated and valued! ☀️💙
This year, JC Roe Academy has had the incredible honor of walking alongside students from Hoggard, Ashley, Laney, and NHHS as they worked tirelessly to complete their graduation requirements and reach this milestone moment. Today we enjoyed our second celebration with these students (January and now).
On June 6th, these graduates will walk across the stage at UNCW -a moment that represents resilience, growth, perseverance, and determination. Along with the 6 graduates who completed their requirements with us in January, we could not be more proud of all they have accomplished.
It has truly been our privilege to know them, support them, encourage them, and be impacted by their presence throughout their time with us.
We are endlessly proud of the strength they have shown and excited for all that lies ahead for each of them. Though their time at JC Roe Academy may be ending, our belief in them and support for them never will. ⚓️🎓❤️

Teacher Appreciation Week at JC Roe Academy was full of kindness, support, and so much love for our staff! ❤️
Monday, teaching staff received appreciation bags filled with candy, personalized memories, quotes, and little reminders of the incredible impact they’ve made this year.
Tuesday brought an amazing breakfast from Ashley High School PTA, along with beautiful notes of gratitude for teachers shared by our own Ms. Robinson, who also surprised the staff with bagels! Between the bagels, donuts, and English muffins, our staff was definitely well loved that morning. ☀️🍩🥯
Wednesday, we were incredibly fortunate to enjoy a full catered lunch from Foods, one of our wonderful Wilmington community partners.
Thursday, Bagels, who has already supported us so generously this year through staff incentives and our Family Bingo Night, treated us to yet another delicious bagel breakfast AND the NC/ NHC Retired School Personnel surprised us with Midtown Pop!
And today, Friday, we topped off the week with a giant chocolate éclair cake courtesy of Merry Kornegay! 🍰
To everyone who helped make this week special: thank you. We hope our staff felt the appreciation surrounding them all week long, because they deserve every bit of it and more. ❤️

A huge thank you to the NCRSP (NHC/ NC Retired School Personnel) for thinking of the JC Roe Academy staff during Teacher Appreciation Week and treating us to delicious Midtown Pop popcorn!
We truly cannot express how meaningful it is to simply be thought of - especially during a week dedicated to recognizing educators and the heart they pour into students each day. Your kindness, generosity, and continued support meant so much to our staff.
And the sign you included!!! …”From kernels to knowledge, learning is better when it pops!” What a perfect reminder that once a teacher, always a teacher. Only fellow educators would take the time to make something so meaningful, personal, and fun.

We truly cannot express how much the kindness and generosity of our community partners means to us. Our staff was incredibly grateful to enjoy the delicious burgers and fries—it made the day extra special.
