🇮🇹 SAVE THE DATE! Discover the Italian Explorer Who Helped Connect Italy and Delaware

Did you know that Giovanni da Verrazzano, the celebrated explorer from the Greve in Chianti region of Italy, was the first European to systematically explore and chart much of the Atlantic coast of what is now the United States, including the Delaware Bay?

Join the Delaware Commission on Italian Heritage and Culture, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Philadelphia, for an inspiring evening that explores the remarkable life, voyages, and legacy of this extraordinary navigator.

We are honored to welcome two internationally recognized scholars:

Luigi Giovanni Cappellini
Fondazione Giovanni da Verrazzano

Dr. Antonella Valoroso
Sorbello Foundation

Through their presentations, you'll discover how Verrazzano's 1524 voyage helped expand Europe's understanding of the New World and why his story remains an important part of Delaware's history.
