Today we celebrate the Birthday of the United States Coast Guard! 🇺🇸⚓

Since August 4, 1790, the brave folks of the Coast Guard have protected our nation’s waters, safeguarded our ports, conducted lifesaving missions, and stood ready to serve whenever duty calls.

Thank you to all Coast Guard members, past and present, for your unwavering commitment, courage, and service. Semper Paratus!

On Saturday evening, UNCW was proud to host the Tenth Annual Cape Fear Purple Heart Dinner. We enjoyed honoring those who were awarded the Purple Heart alongside the Cape Fear Purple Heart Association and campus and community supporters. We were also honored to have in attendance Major James “Jim” Capers, Jr. who was recently awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Happy Independence Day! Celebrating 250 Years of American Independence! 🇺🇸🦅

Today, we proudly join our nation in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A historic milestone marking two and a half centuries of freedom, opportunity, and the enduring American spirit.

As we celebrate this special Independence Day, we honor the courageous patriots who forged our nation’s foundation and the generations of service members, veterans, and military families who have defended the freedoms and ideals that continue to unite us.

To our military-affiliated Seahawks, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and families, thank you for your service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our nation and our community.

From all of us at the UNCW Office of Military Affairs, we wish you and your loved ones a safe, joyful, and meaningful Fourth of July as we celebrate America 250.

Today we celebrate the 87th Birthday of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary! 🇺🇸⚓

Since June 23, 1939, dedicated volunteers have served their communities and nation by promoting boating safety, supporting Coast Guard missions, assisting with search and rescue operations, and strengthening maritime security.

We honor the men and women of the Coast Guard Auxiliary whose commitment, professionalism, and spirit of service help keep our waterways safe and our communities strong.

Thank you to all Auxiliarists—past and present—for your unwavering dedication and service.
