My good friend and colleague, Dr. Katie Schlicting, is retiring this year from Watson College of Ed. Please join me in wishing her the best. We shared many students in the Language and Literacy program, as well as in Elementary Ed classes. You can send her a message in email or pass on best wishes through me.

The Language and Literacy Program welcomes two new professors: Dr. Caitlin Ryan and Dr. Laura Szech. We're also welcoming back Dr. Kathy Fox, after her service as department chair and research leave. Dr. Swafford is retiring but will still be teaching a few classes.

Good Saturday morning! I’m sending out a request to all UNCW alumni who had Dr. Brad Walker in either/both the elementary undergrad or MAT program or the Language and Literacy Program. Maybe you also traveled with him to Japan! He is retiring this semester and his celebration at Watson is this Wednesday, April 17, at 4:00. (Incidentally, you’re invited!) This email is a request for favorite memories, quotes, assignments or projects from his classes or experiences. How did being I. A class with Dr. Walker impact your life and work? We are putting together a journal for him but hope to add student quotes and memories to personalize the project.
Please send to me either through email ([email protected]) or in Messenger.
Thank you ahead of time for your contribution. Just a few thoughts will help!
