What will you see on the ballot?

On November 3, 2026, voters will consider a proposed $320.5 million bond referendum for New Hanover County Schools.

One of the main questions people ask is: how much will the bond cost property owners if it is approved?

Here’s the breakdown of the estimated cost:

$5 per year for every $100,000 of assessed property value

For a $400,000 home, approximately $20 per year

This reduced cost is made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between New Hanover County and The Endowment, with funding applied to help pay the county's bond debt.

We are excited to announce a new project in collaboration with Marta Toran from Appalachian State University focused on creating a more empathetic planet through environmental awareness and immersive learning experiences.

Thanks to grant funding, Williston has new 3D headsets that will allow students to explore and create powerful 360° video experiences. Beginning next school year, students will develop their own immersive videos to study and share the impact of raising environmental awareness in meaningful and engaging ways.

This innovative opportunity was brought to Williston courtesy of AIG Lead and Administrative Intern Mr. Matthew Sullivan, whose vision and leadership helped make this project possible.

We look forward to seeing our students use creativity, technology, and empathy to make a difference in the world!

Ms. Laffey's 6th Grade Homeroom has pulled out ahead in first, while Ms. Butler's 7th, Mr. Hilson's 8th and Ms. Vines' 6th grade homerooms are not too far behind, all tied in second. Many homerooms are in third place -- meaning any homeroom could still win one of these fabulous prizes:
