7.5 hours.
That's how much time the average child ages 8–18 spends on screens each day, according to the AACAP.
At Farm School, our students spend 75% of their school day outside. Climbing trees. Caring for animals. Building forts. Following butterflies. Digging in the dirt. Learning through real experiences instead of endless scrolling. We're not anti-technology. We just believe childhood needs balance.
If you're looking for a childhood filled with wonder, exploration, and connection to the natural world, we'd love to welcome you to the farm. Visit seahorsestablesnc.com/farmschool to schedule a Farm Tour today.🌿

It may have been a mostly rainy, windy and stormy day but, we had so much fun this Friday at camp! Lots of cozy time was had in our classroom while we were reading, singing, playing games, and building things together.
We were able to squeeze in some Nature Play Space time where we discovered a treasure trove of rolly pollies and we had rainy day ice pops! It's been a wonderful week at camp!

Books, horses, and a little bit of farm magic. 📚🐴
Please join us in celebrating Mrs. Angie, who recently completed her Horse-Powered Reading® certification! This unique program integrates social-emotional learning with academics, allowing students to experience reading with their entire mind, body, and emotions.
By interacting with horses from the ground and using creative props, students learn to identify obstacles and master five critical reading skills: phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. We are so excited for the hands-on, memorable learning experiences Mrs. Angie will continue to create for our community!

What a day for little hands and exploring at FSBTS! Morning mini pasture obstacle course and coloring with friends, then planting watermelon or sunflower seeds in their new painted pots, and parachute play full of joy. Our new water wall has been a huge hit this week too! We had some cool down time in our nature classroom where we made watermelon art, read books about the parts of a flower, created gardens with LEGOS and played matching games. It's been a bloom'n fun week!

Week 2 of Farm School Summer Session is all about GROWING! We are exploring seeds, blooms, flowers and veggies, and of course, meeting new baby ducks and chicks who are growing each day.
We spent some cool down time in our nature classroom where we made felt garden scapes, "planted and harvested" strawberries to make jam, made hand print flowers and of course read books and built towers!

Week 1 of Summer Session - "It’s a Bug’s Life" - is officially in the books, and it was a total buzz! 🐝
Our budding entomologists spent the week exploring the farm through a magnifying glass, learning how to be gentle environmental stewards, and stepping into the daily rhythms of caring for our animals. Just like ants in a colony, they worked together, built community, and leaned into cooperative play. 🐜
Beyond the insect world, we practiced working together like a colony—building teamwork in the mud kitchen, practicing social-emotional skills during circle time, and caring for the chickens, ducks, Tiny the tortoise, and our ponies. 🐓🦆🐢🐎
We got muddy, we asked big questions, and we celebrated so many "Glows" as a community. Thank you to all the families who made our first week so special! We’re already looking forward to Monday. ☀️
What was your camper's favorite bug discovery this week? Let us know in the comments!
