We are excited to welcome Samuel Feinberg to Venezia Tutoring as one of our newest instructors.

Samuel holds degrees in both Biochemistry and Psychology from UMass. He brings over a decade of tutoring experience, paired with an exceptional academic and scientific background. Alongside his impact on students, Sam has worked in research and clinical settings at institutions including UMass Boston, UMass Chan Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and has extensive experience in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical research. His passion for education, combined with his ability to break down complex concepts into approachable lessons, makes him an outstanding asset for our students.

At Venezia Tutoring, we build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and empower students to reach goals they once thought were out of reach. Samuel embodies that philosophy, and we’re thrilled to have him join our mission of providing highly personalized, strategy-driven academic support.

The “science of reading” movement has led to major changes in teaching and training, with most teachers now receiving related professional development and using more phonics-based instruction. However, there is still significant disagreement about best practices. Many teachers continue to mix phonics with less effective methods, and gaps remain in knowledge, especially for supporting English learners and students with dyslexia.

While training and new curricula are helping, changes in classroom practice are slow and inconsistent. Teachers also use multiple programs at once, making implementation unclear. Overall, progress has been made, but there is still a long way to go in fully aligning reading instruction with evidence-based methods.

The push toward the science of reading shows how important structured, evidence-based instruction is but also highlights that many students are still not getting consistent or fully effective support in the classroom.

At Venezia Tutoring, we bridge that gap by providing personalized, 1:1 instruction that focuses on proven strategies like phonics, reading comprehension, and skill building tailored to each student’s needs. While schools continue to adapt, we ensure students receive clear, targeted support that helps them build strong reading foundations and long-term confidence.
