This past Saturday, we proudly celebrated the graduation of our latest Eastside Career Development Center cohort!
Our graduates successfully completed training in Medical Billing and Coding and Pharmacy Technician, earning their certifications and taking an important step toward their careers in healthcare. It was a special day filled with pride as friends and family joined us to recognize their hard work and dedication.
We are grateful to Angela Moultrie, Regional President at Santander, for sharing encouraging words with our graduates, and to our keynote speaker, Quron Porter, Owner of Ladder Guy Installs LLC and an ECDC alumnus, for returning to inspire this next group.
A special thank you to our funders Bank of America, WSFS, M&T Bank, TD Bank, and Santander Bank, as well as our volunteers and ECDC staff who continue to support and guide our students every step of the way.
We are incredibly proud of this cohort and look forward to seeing all they accomplish next. 💙

On Tuesday, November 22, 2023, we celebrated a fun and exciting education and training pilot launch!
At the Eastside Career Development Center, we are training individuals to transform their lives and community. After renovations, the Eastside Career Development Center (ECDC) will move its learning delivery from the Community Service Building to the old Mt. Enon Baptist Church, a newly purchased site location, in the fall of 2024. We are confident that opening the ECDC Trade School in the Eastside community of Wilmington, Delaware, will play a key role in strengthening the local community and other populations throughout the city. The ECDC trade school will provide in-demand industry training to residents interested in starting a new career path while connecting graduates to local employment within Delaware organizations and other businesses throughout the region.
Thank you, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, Lt. Governor Dr. Bethany Hall-Long, Senator Darius Brown, Director of Housing Eugene Young, Jr., and Mayor Mike Purzycki, for your support, attendance, and for sharing your work or life experiences that have led you to feel so passionately about ECDCs efforts to move forward strategically. ECDC could not have done any of this without you. ECDC is also giving a massive shout-out to our long-term partner, Healthy Communities Delaware, for helping us coordinate the event. Last but not least, because of the unsurpassable efforts of Executive Director Dr. Natalie Rose and the ECDC team, achieving this milestone was possible.
Thank you to all our supporters, partners, and friends!

The pipeline of new construction workers is not flowing as freely as it once did: training programs were slow to restart operations after the pandemic, and falling migration rates have made it more difficult to attract the international workforce that has been an important source of talent for engineering, design, and contracting activities (Hovnanian et al., 2023).

The US construction sector seems set for a jobs boom. The US Bipartisan Infrastructure Law projects $550 billion of new infrastructure investment over the next decade, which our modeling suggests could create 3.2 million new jobs across the nonresidential construction value chain (Hovnanian et al., 2023).
