This week, Community Room students took a closer look at a unique tradition from Guatemala while putting their own creative spin on it! 🌎🧵

Students learned about Worry Dolls, a traditional Guatemalan custom, and explored the cultural meaning behind the tiny dolls as they created their own.

Hands-on activities like this give students the opportunity to learn about the world around them while creating something of their own. 💛

🧘‍♀️🌿 Taking learning outside!

Our students enjoyed some fresh air and movement with a student-led yoga session on the greenspace outside the Learning Center. It was a great opportunity to slow down, stretch, and enjoy some time together outdoors! 💚

🍂🎨 Fall fun in the Elementary Room!

🥑 A little guac, a lot of fun! 🥑

In honor of National Guacamole Day on September 16, our Community Room students got hands-on in the kitchen and made fresh guacamole! They also enjoyed some chips and salsa to complete the tasty treat. 🌮😋

🎶 Making music at SOLC! 🎶

Our elementary students got creative in the Community Room by making their very own homemade harmonicas! 🎨🎵

After decorating their instruments, they put them to the test and enjoyed playing their creations for Ms. Bailey. What a fun way to combine creativity, hands-on learning, and a little music! 💫

☀️ Summer Memories at SOLC! 🎨

Our students in the Community Room took some time to draw pictures of something they did over the summer, then shared their memories with others throughout the building!

From adventures to favorite activities, it was fun to see what made each student's summer special. We loved seeing their creativity and hearing the stories behind their drawings!

🥤🎯 Can They Stack It?

Our SOLC students took on a cup stacking challenge with a twist! Cups were stacked with pieces of paper in between, and the challenge was to quickly pull out the paper without knocking everything over.
