Arafat Day, also known as the Day of Arafah, holds immense significance in the Islamic calendar. It is the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar, and a fundamental pillar of Hajj pilgrimage.
On this sacred day, millions of pilgrims gather on the plains of Arafat, near the holy city of Mecca. It is here that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his farewell sermon, emphasizing the importance of unity, equality, and social justice.
Arafat Day is a time for deep reflection, repentance, and supplication. Pilgrims spend the day engaged in prayers, seeking forgiveness, and beseeching Allah's mercy. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Hellfire than on the Day of Arafah."
Even for those not performing Hajj, Arafat Day holds great significance. It is highly recommended to fast on this day as it expiates sins of the previous year and the coming year.
