Adding beauty to the school . . . one plant at a time! Today's weather made it a perfect day to head outside and add a splash of summer color to the front of the school. Each student brought in and planted a geranium flower to celebrate the new summer season that has finally arrived.

Feel free to come by the school and see how this outdoor activity has enhanced the landscape around the school and taught the children about getting up close to the soil and how they can make a difference!

Planting with the Sisters of Christian Charity for Arbor Day. On Monday, May 13, our Primary students took a walk next door to our neighbors, The Sisters of Christian Charity, for the annual Planting With The Sisters where our tradition is to plant a new tree or shrub on their property. This year's plant is a shrub called Sorbaria 'White Beam.' Mrs. Blythe asks the children what are all the necessary needs of any plant and the benefits that our trees and shrubs add to our environment? So many children were eager to share their knowledge!

The children then all join in to sing songs about different kinds of trees. Finally, our Graduates help to add soil to the shrub to complete the planting.

This year we were joined by Srs. Mary Ann, Anastasia, Juliann and Monica, who are always so happy to share any time with the children of Ronald Knox.

Grandparent's Day! Grandparent's Day is a special day where each child has the joy of inviting one of their beloved grandparents or a special guest into their classroom offering them a glimpse into their daily learning experiences. As they step into the classroom, they are welcomed with smiles and excitement from both their grandchild and their peers and together, they explore the various areas where the children engage in their learning adventures. From the cozy reading corner filled with colorful storybooks to the art station alive with creativity, the grandparent or classroom guest witnesses firsthand the vibrant atmosphere where the child thrives. Through this shared experience, bonds are strengthened, memories are made, and the magic of intergenerational connection fills the room.

Another wonderful lunch provided to the faculty and staff for Teacher Appreciation Week. Today we all enjoyed some fantastically fresh salads from SWEETGREENS. It was difficult for everyone to make a choice since they all looked so good ... and they did not disappoint!

Thank you to all the families for making each of us feel so appreciated. We also appreciate YOU!

MORE TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK: We all enjoyed a wonderful lunch yesterday from FAJITA PETE'S in Wilmette. There were homemade tortillos, (reg and gluten-free) soooo tender chicken and beef, fresh pico de gallo, rice, beans, guacamole and chips and salsa, oh my! Everything was so delicious!

Muchas gracias! to LIZ SIEBERT and TIFFANY WARD for choosing such a tasty lunch for us all. We really appreciated it!

Teacher Appreciation Week! We've started out the week with some festive decorations and tasty treats for all of our faculty. Thank you to our parents, Tiffany Ward and Elizabeth Siebert, for all of their efforts to kick off the week with a bang!

On Wednesday, May 29, our Kindergarten children will be visiting the animal shelter ORPHANS OF THE STORM in Riverwoods as part of our tradition of Community Appreciation. Orphans of the Storm serves most of the animal control facilities and municipalities in Illinois' Lake and northern Cook County. For literally hundreds of thousands of homeless animals, Orphans has been the refuge of last resort.

WE WILL BE ACCEPTING DONATIONS of items found on Orphans' Wish List at any time for the children to deliver on their visit MAY 29. Below you will find a list of items on their website.

- Newspaper (They go through 100 a day!)
- Twin-size Blankets and Comforters (During the winter months every dog goes to bed with a blankie – not too large or heavy as they wash and dry every blanket daily)
- Bath-Size Towels (NO hand towels or rags)
- Dog bones, chew bones, treats, balls
- Cat trees, toys, beds, treats
- Sturdy dog and cat combs and brushes
- Human baby food (Meat based only, for sick cats)
- Cat litter
- Baking soda (To control cat litter odor)

A field trip that was out of this world! On Tuesday, March 12, Ms. Stephanie's and Ms. Leslie's Kindergarten class took a field trip to the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. This trip pairs with the class now studying the solar system. The kindergartner's experience included:

- Watching a movie "Destination Solar System"
- Looking through a telescope
- A visit to the Exploratorium where they found out what it was like to be an astronaut.
- Participated in a hands-on activity building a space craft from coffee filters and pipe cleaners and then replicating landing on a planet
-Riding on the big yellow bus

And as you can see, so much more!
