Welcome back, Ramblers!

The 2026–2027 school year is officially underway at Loyola Academy! From welcoming the Class of 2030 and their families during Freshman Orientation to the return of our sophomores, juniors, and seniors, it has been an exciting week of new beginnings, new connections and Rambler spirit.

We closed our first week together with the Mass of the Holy Spirit, a cherished Jesuit tradition that calls our community to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit for the year ahead. The celebration included the traditional Freshmen Clap-In and a special blessing of Principal Steve Tortorello as he begins his first school year leading Loyola Academy.

Here's to a year of learning, growth, discovery and becoming the people God calls us to be.

Summer Learning, Rambler Style

As summer winds down and a new school year approaches, we’re taking a look back at a summer filled with learning, growth, and discovery at Loyola Academy.
From chemistry students diving into atomic structure, bonding, and equations to junior high and incoming Ramblers exploring Chicago’s history and culture through our Discover Chicago program, Summer School offered countless opportunities to learn in and out of the classroom.

We’re grateful to the students and teachers who made this summer so meaningful. Whether catching up, getting ahead, or discovering something new, every experience helped our students build knowledge, confidence, and curiosity for the year ahead.

Here’s to a successful summer—and an exciting new school year beginning next week! 📚

Today, we celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, whose vision continues to shape our school and inspire our mission.

At Loyola Academy, we encourage every student to discover their unique God-given gifts and discern how they are called to use those gifts in service to others—that journey of finding one's calling lies at the heart of an Ignatian education.
Learn more at https://www.goramblers.org/.

Through prayer, reflection, learning, and service, we strive to seek God in all things and respond generously to His call.

As we honor our patron saint today, may the example of St. Ignatius inspire each of us to live with faith, purpose, and generosity, always striving Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam—for the greater glory of God.

Happy Feast of St. Ignatius!

Loyola Academy Alum of the Month: Ben Trapp ‘24

For Ben Trapp ’24, entrepreneurship began at Loyola Academy. Through LA Tank, Loyola’s entrepreneurship club and competition modeled after Shark Tank, Ben discovered the energy of building something from the ground up—and the importance of turning ideas into action.

“Loyola prepared me by teaching me that things worth doing are worth taking seriously,” Ben says. “In retrospect, Loyola is more than a college preparatory school. It really is a life preparatory school.”

As our nation marks 250 years of freedom this Fourth of July, we give thanks for the blessings of liberty and the opportunity to build a more just and hopeful future together.

At Loyola Academy, our mission calls us to form women and men for others—Ramblers who use their gifts in service of the common good and work to uphold the dignity of every person.

May this Independence Day inspire us to reflect on the freedoms we cherish, the responsibilities they carry, and the ways each of us is called to serve our communities with compassion, courage, and hope.

Wishing our Rambler family a safe and joyful Fourth of July! God Bless America!
