Exciting News: WAA and the National Education Opportunity Network (NEON)
We are extremely proud to share that Westinghouse Arts Academy Charter School has been nominated for participation in the National Education Opportunity Network (NEON)!
In notifying WAA of this recognition, NEON shared:
“Congratulations on your nomination as a National Education Opportunity Network district!”
NEON is a national nonprofit organization that works exclusively with Title I and Title I-eligible high schools to expand college access and success. The organization currently serves more than 60,000 scholars and partners with more than 350 nominated high schools across 86 districts nationwide.
WAA was selected for this opportunity based on several indicators of student success, including our strong graduation rate, the number of students pursuing postsecondary education, our dual-enrollment opportunities, and other factors demonstrating our commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school.
This opportunity will open additional doors for our students by providing access to courses and educational experiences connected with top colleges and universities.
For our students, this means more choices, greater college exposure, expanded access to college-level coursework, and additional opportunities to explore their future pathways.
At WAA, we believe that a student’s ZIP code should never determine the opportunities available to them. We will continue developing partnerships that allow our students to pursue college, career, the arts, entrepreneurship, and other postsecondary pathways.
We look forward to providing families with additional information about NEON and the specific opportunities that will become available to our students.
We are RISING UP and continuing to create opportunities for every WAA student!
