And after the stress of this year, I understand.

I understand the desire to escape. To numb it. To find anything that will make the weight feel a little lighter.

But temporary relief isn’t the same as peace.

True peace is found in Christ. 🤍

Apple Cider Vinegar Digestive Tonic 🍎✨

If you struggle with occasional reflux or sluggish digestion, this simple homemade tonic may be worth trying!

RECIPE

- ½ cup water
- ½ cup raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar with the mother
- ½ cup honey
- A thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger (or ½ tsp ground ginger)
- ½ tsp cinnamon

Mix everything together in a quart jar and store in the refrigerator.

🥄 How I use it: Take a small shot about 5-10 minutes before meals.

WHY I USE IT

One theory behind some cases of reflux is that inadequate stomach acid can contribute to poor digestion and impaired closure of the lower esophageal sphincter. Supporting normal stomach acidity and digestion may help some people with reflux symptoms.

Apple cider vinegar and ginger may also support the digestive process by stimulating digestive secretions and enzymes.

⚠️ Important: Acid reflux has many possible causes, and apple cider vinegar can actually make symptoms worse for some people. If it burns, increases reflux, or causes pain, stop using it. If you have persistent or severe reflux, talk with a healthcare professional.

Simple ingredients. Easy to make. A little daily digestive support. 🍎

🍵 5 Bitter Teas to Add to Your Wellness Routine

Bitter flavors can be a great addition to your daily routine and may support digestion, stress response, and overall wellness. Here are five bitter teas to consider:

🌿 Dandelion Root - traditionally used to support healthy digestion and kidney function.

🌱 Ashwagandha - an adaptogenic herb traditionally used to help the body manage stress and support a calm mood.

🌼 Chamomile - helps promote relaxation and may soothe the digestive tract.

🌿 Licorice Root - traditionally used to support digestion and the respiratory system and may help with occasional congestion.

🍃 Green Tea - rich in antioxidants and contains compounds that support brain health; it may also support healthy weight management.

✨ Sometimes the simplest way to support your body is to add more variety from nature.

(Herbs can have side effects and interact with medications. Licorice root and ashwagandha, in particular, aren't appropriate for everyone, so check with your healthcare provider if you have a medical condition, take medications, or are pregnant.)

I realized something recently that honestly stopped me in my tracks…

For the past month, I’ve been waking up without pain. 🥹

For years, waking up meant pain, stiffness, and sometimes struggling just to get out of bed. There were times I was limping because my body hurt so badly.

About two years ago, I was basically told there wasn’t much hope and that with autoimmune dysfunction, I should expect things to continue getting worse.

But that wasn’t the end of my story.

I started learning how to calm my nervous system, nourish my body, heal my gut, improve my diet, support my body’s natural healing processes, and address the root causes instead of simply managing symptoms.

And little by little… things changed.

I’m not sharing this to say healing is quick or linear. It isn’t. And everyone’s journey is different.

I’m sharing it because a diagnosis does not have to define your future. Your body is constantly working toward balance and healing when you give it the right support.

Sometimes we get so used to feeling bad that we don’t even realize how much better we’ve gotten until one day we wake up and think…

“Wait… I’m not hurting.” ❤️

There is hope. Keep going. Keep learning. Keep supporting your body.

Your body may not need MORE stimulation, it may need a signal that it’s SAFE. 🤍

One simple way to support your nervous system is by stimulating the vagus nerve:

🌿 Slow, deep breathing
🎶 Humming or singing
💧 Gargling with water
🚶‍♀️ Taking a peaceful walk, without using that time to replay the problem over and over

Sometimes we’re physically resting, but our minds are still running.

Give your body a chance to slow down. Breathe deeply. Get outside. Hum a little. Be still.

Your nervous system notices more than you realize. ✨

These verses stood out to me in my devotions this morning. Some days, it feels like the rod of the wicked is resting on the righteous. As I read this passage, I inquired of the Lord about its meaning. I know He will never lie, but this verse about the rod of the wicked not resting on the righteous seemed to contradict what I have seen in life.

If this is the case, why do people still oppose and scorn us when we merely seek to serve our Lord? Why do wicked men still rule? Why do the evil deeds of men still plague the innocent?

And, as He always does, my Lord answered.

This verse does not mean that we will never go through hard times or that we will always be loved by everyone if we walk the paths of righteousness. Rather, if we trust the Lord and walk in His righteousness, we will not be broken by the pressures around us.

If God is our refuge, we will not give up and descend into the madness around us, as is often the temptation. Instead, we will rest in our God and, by His grace, continue to walk with uprightness of heart, not because there is anything good in us, but because God is working in us.

When others do not understand us and, out of their own hurt, lash out at us, it will not bring us to wrath and bitterness, causing us to seek to hurt them in return. Instead, it will bring us to our knees. We will retreat to the refuge of the Lord.

Perhaps this is what it means for the rod of the wicked not to rest upon the righteous. The wicked may oppose us. They may hurt us. They may even have power over us for a time. But they do not have the power to determine who we become.

The Lord is our refuge. He surrounds His people like the mountains surround Jerusalem. And when the pressures of this world come against us, He is faithful to keep us from being overcome by them.

My mantra lately has been, “God sees, a
