It was such a good first day at Gower Middle! We started our day with grade level team meetings, attended all of our classes, had lunch and finished out the day with our first House assembly of the year. Thank you to our parents who had our students ready and excited to be back at Gower Middle. It is going to be a fantastic year!!

How's the first week going?

Two important dates coming up for Gower West families.

Picture Day is Friday, August 28. Van Gogh School Photographers will be on campus to photograph students. More details will be shared closer to the day.

Save the date for Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 3. This is an important evening for parents to learn about what their child will be learning this year, with sessions organized by grade level:

5:30 - 6:00 PM: Pre-K (Multipurpose Room) and PACE (Room 31)
5:45 - 6:15 PM: 3rd Grade (Small Gym)
6:00 - 6:30 PM: 4th Grade (Multipurpose Room)
6:15 - 6:45 PM: Kindergarten (Small Gym)
6:30 - 7:00 PM: 1st Grade (Multipurpose Room)
6:45 - 7:15 PM: 2nd Grade (Small Gym)

Specials, specialists, and interventionists will be available near the Multipurpose Room from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.

More information will be sent home closer to the date. We look forward to seeing you there.

Did you know families can get a look into their student's Chromebook activity through GoGuardian Parent? GoGuardian helps keep the digital learning environment safe and focused, and district approved tools and privacy practices help protect student information. While it's primarily used by teachers, parent access is available to every Gower 62 family.

Getting started only takes a few steps:

Download the GoGuardian Parent app.
Sign in using the email address you have on file with the school.
Verify your email and select your child.
Use the app to view Chromebook activity, block websites, pause internet access, and set internet schedules.

One more thing to know: after 10:00 PM, Chromebook access is automatically limited to school related websites and resources. Reach out to your school's IT department with any questions about getting set up.

The August lunch menu for Gower Middle School is here, featuring favorites like chicken tenders with mac n cheese, beef taco bowls, and cheese pizza with pretzels. Every main meal comes with a small salad from the salad bar and a small water or milk, plus a la carte options are available daily. Plant based and vegetarian options can be requested by notifying Mrs. Jannenga in the morning.
