Coach Mark goes over considerations for the grapevine. When to let go and transition to another method. Which is in line with life. Jiu Jitsu is life. If you allow it! When you know the path, you see it in all things!

Coach Mark going over an approach to attack from the mount in our fundamentals class this past Saturday! Come join us at 10am and open mat immediately after!

Saturday open mats at 11:00am immediately after 10:00am class! Don’t forget to smile regardless of how tough of a position you’re in. Just another thing Jiu Jitsu reminds us of. Come get some!

We canceled all scheduled classes and came together as a family for Conor and Alex’s Black Belt ceremony.

Alex and Conor did a “Shark Tank” sparring almost every man, woman, and child in this photo in one minute rounds!

Tuesday night was a special one at Gracie Cleveland.

We canceled all classes and came together as a family for Conor and Alex’s Black Belt ceremony.

A black belt is way more than skill. It’s years of showing up, learning, struggling, growing, helping, then doing it all again. It was an honor and a blessing to recognize that journey for Conor and Alex.

And of course, we had to finish the night the Gracie Cleveland way!

At the end of the ceremony, there was the gauntlet! Then, Alex and Conor sparred one-minute rounds with almost 30 adults and kids, one after another. It was exhausting, chaotic, and an awesome way for everyone to be part of the night.

Congratulations, Conor and Alex!

We’re all proud of you and grateful for everything you have poured into our academy and the people in it.

What a night. What a community.

Did you know rescue swimming and jiu-jitsu share many of the same principles?
Lifeguards use leverage instead of strength, control distance, and escape grabs like wrist and hair grabs.

Even though Ohio doesn’t classify lifeguards as first responders, they instantly put themselves in harm’s way to protect others. That’s why we offer First Responder Discounts to all active lifeguards.

Thank you for everything you do to keep our communities safe. If you’re an active lifeguard, stop by or send us a message to learn more.
