Ecology Action teaches people worldwide to better feed themselves while building and preserving the soil and conserving resources. What do we do?

Since 1971 we and our colleagues have been researching and developing GROW BIOINTENSIVE®, a high-yielding, sustainable agricultural system that emphasizes local food production and is based historically on intensive gardening systems. How do we spread the system? Education and training are the keys. Publications based on our research are disseminated globally. We give trainings in the GROW BIOINTE

A GROW BIOINTENSIVE®️ compost-making class put on by our partners in Kaviwale Provence in Malawi. When people learn how to farm without needing to pay for inputs, their whole economic outlook changes. When they learn how to increase yields while using less water, their whole nutritional situation improves.

Garden of Hope is a GROW BIOINTENSIVE®️ project based out of Taita-Taveta County, in coastal Kenya. Mlesh Mlegwa (far right) is the founder and director. Mlesh was an Ecology Action intern in 2016 and founded Garden of Hope immediately upon returning home to Kenya.

Ecology Action partners with programs all over the world to spread the method to farmers who need it most and we are grateful for all of them.
