Black History is American History.
We joyously celebrate Black chefs, writers, and creatives in food everywhere ... Bryant Terry, Soul Food Scholar, Vallery Lomas to name a few. This month, we've teamed up with Omnivore Books to launch an impactful giveaway promotion that simultaneously spotlights BIPOC authors, whilst honoring Bay Area food workers who have been hard hit by the pandemic.
The terms of the giveaway, as described in Omnivore's latest newsletter, are pasted below. (If you have yet to sign up for Omnivore's monthly newsletter, we highly recommend that you do!) https://myemail.constantcontact.com/February-2022-Newsletter.html?soid=1102256335972&aid=NL0UHRQ1YnI
"Others in our industry have not been so lucky - the food industry has been hit particularly hard. So, we want to thank those in that industry in a very fun way. My favorite food history group, newly renamed CHNorCal (Culinary Historians of Northern California) is sponsoring an incredibly generous cookbook giveaway from our shop.
Here's the deal: If you are in the food business (farmers, grocery clerks, cooks, servers, distillers, bartenders, culinary students, food writers, et al.), you have the month of February to come in to Omnivore and choose one of five titles to take home as a thank-you gift for all the hard work (or no work) you've endured through the pandemic. To celebrate the diversity of Black History Month, we are offering ten each of the following titles:
Dining with the Dead
Black Food
Life is What You Bake It
Black Smoke
New Native Kitchen
That's it. No strings attached. First come, first served, and you must come in person, because we love to see your lovely faces, masked or not."
