Join Williston Coyotes Athletics and the Western Star Literacy Center for a fun evening of reading under the stadium lights!

💚🐻 Garden Valley Families — We Need Your Help! 🐻💚

We have some exciting opportunities coming up for our Grizzlies, and we are reaching out to our amazing Garden Valley community for support!

We are currently seeking donations to help purchase (we would also accept a used picnic table or sandbox):
• A picnic table for staff and students to enjoy outdoors
• A sandbox to add another fun outdoor play option
• Travel Day funding for our upcoming October 2nd Travel Day

We are actively pursuing grant funding to support our Travel Days throughout the year, but while we await those funds, we are looking for community support to help make our October 2nd experience possible. Any amount helps make our travel days special for our students, but $100-200 would fully fund one country.

Our Travel Days give students opportunities to learn beyond the classroom through real-world, hands-on experiences that build curiosity, connections, and lasting memories.

If your family, business, or organization would be interested in donating toward any of these needs, please contact Garden Valley Elementary.

School Picture Day is Wednesday, September 23rd!

Order forms were sent home a few weeks ago. Here is what was sent home as well as an update regarding a digital option.

📸 NEW SCHOOL PICTURE OPTION!

We’ve added a Digital Download option for Garden Valley School Pictures!

The original picture order forms were sent home before this option was available, so you will not see it listed on your child’s order form.

💻 DIGITAL DOWNLOAD OPTIONS

Digital Download Only — $35
Purchase your child’s individual digital image without a print package.

Digital Download + Print Package — $20
Add a digital download for just $20 when purchasing Package A or Package B.

If you would like to add a digital download, simply write “DIGITAL” on your child’s existing order envelope/form and add the appropriate amount to your total payment.

There is no need to complete a new order form if you have already filled yours out!

In the rush of back to school, I forgot to finish introducing you to the rest of our amazing staff.

First, we had a change in our speech and language pathologist. Please welcome Ms. Barman to Garden Valley!

💚Ms. Barman

Welcome to Garden Valley Ms. Barman. She will be our speech and language pathologist working with our speech and language kiddos on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

She comes to us from private practice.

This summer she watched her kids play baseball, basektball, and vollyball. She enjoyed lake time, fishing and golf. She attended a few concerts and the state fair.

She is excited for the school year and to be at Garden Valley.

Now, last, but certainly not least, the staff members who keep our school running smoothly, keep or school clean and safe, and keep our students nourished for a full day of learning, meet our office, custodial, and kitchen staff along with our School Resource Deputy.

💚Mrs. Bennett

Mrs. Bennett is our school secretary and has been out on leave. We are excited to welcome her back today and thank Miss Y. for her help in the office during this busy time of the year.

This summer she traveled to Las Vegas, Minnesota, Canada, and all over North Dakota.

Her favorite memory of last school year is when the staff and students decorated her office as bright as the sun. She felt so loved and appreciated and she wants every to know that she loves our school family!

She is looking forward to meeting all of the new students and showing them all the wonderful and unique things at Garden Valley. She wants to show them that Garden Valley is their home too!

💚Ms. Kathy
Ms. Kathy is our night janitor.
This summer she went to Dickinson.

Ms. Kathy’s favorite memory of last year was all th smiling faces.

She is looking forward to another new year and seeing all the kids.

💚Mr. Chester
This summer he traveled to Yellowstone National Park and watched the Medora Musical.

His favorite memory from last school year was helping keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming.

He is looking forward to a wonderful school year together and making our school safe, clean and welcoming.

💚Mrs. Michelle
This summer she traveled to Custer, SD .

Her favorite memory from last school year was watching all the kiddos travel on our school-wide travel days!

She is looking forward to making sure the kiddos are fed.

💚Mrs. Jean
This summer she traveled to Michigan and spent two months with family. She also went camping with her granddaughter.

Her favorite part of the last school year was watching the 5th graders making their bread from scratch and baking it for them for the Bread Fair Day.

She is looking forward to the new boundary and getting to know different students and seeing the returning ones.

💚Deputy Holm
Deputy Holm went camping and fishing this summer.

His favorite memory from last school year was the travel days when everyone got to travel to different countries.

He is looking forward to meeting all the new kids and seeing returning students.

Families,

I am writing to let you know that we began practicing our safety drills today. We will start today by practicing a hold and next week we will continue Drill Week where we will be practicing our Standard Response Protocols (SRPs) in a drill each day. This will include drills like: hold, secure, lockdown, evacuate for fire, and shelter. This is not meant to scare our students, but to practice what do do in the event of an emergency.

Today we learned about a hold on our Daily Paws which is our morning announcement. Then later this morning we practiced. Each day next week on our Daily Paws Google Meet announcements we will learn about a different drill, learn the name, what the icon and vocabulary around that drill, and then learn when we would use that drill. Later in the day we will practice that drill. We will be using the I Love You Guys Standards Response Protocol as well as Raptor for initiating the drill and taking attendance and communicating as a staff during the drill.

Please know if you come to pick up your child/children during the drill, we will not be able to release them until the drill has ended.

We know we have little bodies in our building and we will sure to be sensitive to their emotions by disengaging stress after the drill.

As families, please familiarize yourself with the SRPs shown in these images and/or on the attached link.

🐻 Garden Valley Families: Drop Off, Pick Up & Parking Procedures 💚🖤
As we begin the school year, we want to make sure arrival and dismissal are safe and smooth for all of our Grizzlies! Please review our drop off, pick up, and parking procedures below and refer to the graphic for a visual.

🚗 MORNING DROP OFF
• Enter the parking lot to the EAST for drop off.
• Stay on the inside of the cones. The outside of the cones is for bus traffic only.
• Do not park in the bus lane at any time.
• Please stay in your vehicle during drop off. A staff member will be there to help your child safely exit.

🐾 AFTERNOON PICK UP
• Have your car tag displayed in your window.
• Enter the parking lot to the EAST for pick up.
• Loop around the inside of the cones and begin filling the parking lanes between the Lego blocks. The front of your vehicle should be facing south.
• Please stay in your vehicle. A staff member will radio for your child/children.
• A staff member will walk your child/children to your vehicle.
• For everyone's safety, please do not walk up to the fence to pick up your child/children.

🅿️ NEED TO PARK & COME INSIDE?
• Please use our parking lot in the graveled area on the SOUTH side of the school.
• There is NO PARKING north of the roped area. This space is reserved for bus traffic and emergency vehicles only.
• Remember: No parking NORTH of the sign. Parking is permitted SOUTH of the sign.

💚 Thank you for your patience and cooperation as everyone learns our routines. Following these procedures helps us keep traffic moving and, most importantly, keeps our Grizzlies safe!
