Curiosity is an important part of Early Childhood learning. When children wonder “What will happen?”, “Why did that change?”, or “What happens if we try this?”, they are developing the foundation for scientific thinking and problem-solving. Curiosity encourages children to explore, test their ideas, learn from their observations, and feel confident asking questions.

At E.J.’s, we want children to know that questions are powerful and discoveries are everywhere! 🌱🔍

Today, we weren’t just dying flowers—we were nurturing little scientists who are learning to wonder, investigate, and discover the world around them. 💕🌸

✨🧪 Potion Lab in the Sunshine Classroom! 🎨✨

This week, our Sunshine Class has been busy creating magical potions through hands-on color exploration! The children have been mixing colors, experimenting, and creating their own unique "potions."

Today was all about mixing! We practiced combining different colors to discover what new colors they would create. Through lots of trial and error, the children made predictions, tested their ideas, and learned which colors mix together to make colors they already know.

Activities like this encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and early science skills while making learning fun. We love watching our little scientists explore, experiment, and discover something new each day! 💙💛❤️➡️💚🧡💜

Our School Age Class had an amazing day exploring Shelburne Farms! 🌿🐄🌞

From discovering the beauty of nature to learning about farm animals, agriculture, and the environment, our children had countless opportunities to ask questions, make observations, and connect their learning to the world around them.

Field trips like these encourage curiosity, teamwork, and a love for exploring new places. We are so grateful for the wonderful experiences Shelburne Farms provides and for the memories our students made together today!

I think the big take away from the farm was it is a lot of work to have animals!

📸 Check out some of our favorite moments from the day!

🦋 Our Caterpillar Adventure! 🦋

This week, our classrooms have been exploring the fascinating life cycle of caterpillars! One of our teachers discovered three caterpillars on a milkweed plant, giving us the perfect opportunity to bring real-life science into our classroom. We carefully created a safe observation habitat so the children could watch their incredible transformation up close.

The excitement has been growing each day! Today, two of our caterpillars have entered the "J" stage, and one has already formed its chrysalis. The children have been eagerly observing the changes, asking thoughtful questions, making predictions, and learning firsthand about the stages of a butterfly's life cycle.

Experiences like these spark curiosity, encourage scientific thinking, and help children develop an appreciation for the natural world. We can't wait to continue watching this amazing transformation and, soon, celebrate the emergence of our butterflies together!

Our infant classrooms have been busy exploring, creating, and discovering through meaningful play! 💙

🌿 Our Seedling Infant Classroom have been spending time outdoors exploring the playground, where they investigated different natural materials like sand and mulch, experimented with toy cars, and became more familiar with the environment they'll experience as they transition into our Young Toddler classrooms. These experiences help build confidence, encourage curiosity, and support a smooth, positive transition to the next stage of development.

🎨 Our Sprouts Infant Classroom enjoyed a variety of sensory-rich art experiences. They explored painting with pom-poms, which strengthens fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, and created beautiful "painting in a bag" masterpieces. This safe sensory activity allows infants to explore colors, movement, and cause-and-effect while engaging their developing senses. They also enjoyed imaginative play while exploring the playhouse, fostering social interactions and early communication skills.

At E.J.'s, we believe that even our youngest learners thrive through hands-on exploration. Every sensory experience, outdoor adventure, and creative opportunity helps build the foundation for cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth. We love watching our infants discover the world around them—one smile, one exploration, and one messy masterpiece at a time! 💕✨

This week, our preschool classrooms embraced the joy of learning through hands-on, meaningful experiences! 🌟

🍦 Woodland Classroom explored the science behind making homemade ice cream. As the children shook their jars, they used their large muscle groups while observing how liquid ingredients changed into a delicious frozen treat. Activities like this help build gross motor strength while introducing early science concepts through play.

🐠 Sunshine Friends dove into an ocean adventure! After reading The Rainbow Fish, the children worked together to create a beautiful collaborative Rainbow Fish painting, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and literacy connections. Their learning continued outdoors as they splashed on our new splash pad, using imaginative play to pretend they were fish swimming through the sea.

🎨 Dandelion Friends celebrated the beauty of process art with a large shower-curtain painting experience. Children freely explored different ways to create using their hands, feet, elbows, paintbrushes and sponges. Process art encourages creativity, sensory exploration, self-expression, and confidence—there is no right or wrong way to create, only the joy of discovering.

At E.J.'s, we know that the best learning happens when children are actively engaged, exploring with all of their senses, and having fun. Judging by the smiles on their faces, this week was full of joyful discoveries! 💙✨

We are back from our summer vacation and are in full swing with our new curriculum units!

The Sunshine Class is learning all about camping. The children made binoculars for their nature walk and had a wonderful time exploring outdoors. They spotted birds, spiders, and even a squirrel while searching through their binoculars!

Our Woodland Class is learning all about ice cream. The children have been asking lots of questions and talking about how yummy it is, so we're taking advantage of their excitement and curiosity. Today, they made paper plate ice cream cones, decorated them with colorful "sprinkles," and practiced writing their ABCs in a sensory bin filled with rice.

The Seedlings Class is exploring everything about the ocean. To kick off their week, they enjoyed an ocean-themed sensory bin filled with aquafaba (whipped chickpea juice) and ocean animals, giving them a fun and engaging way to explore different textures while learning about sea life.

This week, all of our classrooms have been busy creating 4th of July-themed art projects! The children have also enjoyed talking with their friends and teachers about their upcoming vacation plans and holiday celebrations.

Our Infant Classroom created beautiful red, white, and blue coffee filter art. The Young Toddlers had fun making sponge-painted fireworks, while the Older Toddlers designed festive red, white, and blue sunglasses.

In our Preschool Classroom, the children made sparkling glitter fireworks and explored creativity outdoors by making chalk paint to add splashes of red, white, and blue to the ground outside.

**Graduation was a wonderful success!** 🎓

Our children proudly received their diplomas and sang beautifully in front of their families and friends. They enjoyed a delicious celebration filled with yummy food, and, as always, the sundae bar was a huge hit!

One of the most special parts of the night was spending time with our families and celebrating the strong connections we've built over the years. While it’s an exciting milestone, it’s also bittersweet. We’ve had the privilege of watching these children learn, grow, and thrive over the past five years, and now they are off to kindergarten!

We are so proud of each and every one of them and look forward to hearing about all the amazing things they will learn and accomplish in the years ahead. Congratulations, graduates! ❤️🎓✨
