Mrs. Phillips welcomed our new 6th-grade mathemagicians with an engaging “Math About Me” poster project! Scholars selected eight different numbers that represented something about themselves, such as their age, number of siblings, shoe size, favorite number, or other personal facts. They then created mathematical equations that, when solved, resulted in each of their selected numbers.

This engaging activity allowed scholars to build relationships, express their individuality, and apply mathematical reasoning while getting to know their classmates. It was a creative way to show our scholars that math is connected to the world around them—and to who they are!
