Bakken Oral History Project

The Bakken is all over the news. It’s on people’s minds. It’s making our country run. We’re a part of history, but has your story been told?

The State Historical Society of North Dakota is partnering with a University of Minnesota research team to collect the stories of residents and workers of the Williston area. All residents and workers in this area are invited to participate. The project will document the experiences of workers and residents whose lives are being shaped and impacted by the oil boom. The stories collected will be archived and made available to the public at the State Historical Society of North Dakota in Bismarck.
